A disappointing experience...

We expected a museum but it was just a cramped exhibition of cartoons by a German artist, no caricatures, no explanation in English.
As if that was not enough, we were told to leave a handbag and a paper bag in a locker down the stairs in the basement ( sic!). There should be written information about this and about the fees in English at the desk. We paid 6 euros each and felt ripped-off ! Not a place for tourists, as you can also see from their German-only website .

we wandered in and were unsure in of was a free exhibition, we were stopped and told to pay at the desk.. out of awkwardness we paid entry. 6 euros each but luckily we had frankfurt travel cards which got us a discounted rate of 3 euros each. The museum was poor. the entire exhibition was about some strange guy who was obsessed with an elephant. and all upstairs were walls of random doodles that didn't make sense. felt ripped off.

I had some time before my flight home and read few review before I went to this musem. In one I've read that exhibitions are translated to english. I was a bit dissapointed after my visit, paid 6 eur and understood nothing. I think that they probably had provided english translation for some temporary exhibition. As for today I've seen expositions in german only. Besides language I was little dissapointed casue I thought I was going to see some funny caricatures understandable without any words but expositions contains only cartoons. Nice guy at desk speaking fluently in english could have warn me but he did not.

in german only , just for locals, not for tourists

I dont understand how a Museum is defined as a Museum when there is no translation in English. most of the caricature are described with text content , of course in German.
Moreover- why should i discover this just after i already paid for the ticket?
the place is quite small , i cant understand the good reviews here

Great caricatures!

Small exhibition in 3 floors. The caricatures were excellent! Could not believe that they all were paintings. Very interesting to see how a picture of Michael Jackson was painted. The artist started by drawing a big smiley! Highly recommendable.

This place is cool. I discovered it thanks to the internet. In fact if it wasn't for the internet I would have had no idea that this place existed. The staff are cool, but the thing about this art gallery is that it is dedicated to caricatures and cartoons. When I was there they had a temporary exhibition on the ground floor, which had caracatures of numerous celebrities. Actually, I almost missed the permanent exhibition, which is on the secondfloor. The thing with that is that it contains a lot of cartoon, like the ones from The Far Side, which means that you do need to have an understanding of German, and not a basic understanding either (such as I have). However, they are still pretty cool, and you can get some enjoyment out of this place without having to know German.

Good Exhibitions...

... but the museum needs more space. It felt crammed, and in some spaces you inadvertently stood at awkward angles to the art making it difficult to properly take it in for full appreciation.
