I walked into this church expecting it to be traditional and was met with that and the spectacular ceiling. It isn't decorative or embellished but is so different from any other church in the area and is well worth a stop in to stare at this wonder.

Small but colorful church with a single bell tower one hundred eighty five meters high. The church was built in the 1600s it was almost completely destroyed during World War II. The church is on the plaza next to the Hauptwache. Free entrance.

Simple, old, pretty, but nothing in English. I would love to have learned more about this place. Nice Tower. Center of most activity for old Frankfurt.

Not an impressive church, stuck in the middle the rather industrialised shopping avenue, it feels out of its element and has nothing really to offer. Go to the Dom instead.

This Baroque style Lutheran Church stands out from the rest in the Hawptwache Plaza. The Hauptwache was in particular dwarfed by this towering neighbor. The interior of the church has nothing to fancy about other than some tall stained glass windows and it may not have become an attraction on its own if not for the busy plaza it was... More

Katharinekirch or St Catherine's church is a relatively large, Baroque church built in the mid to late 17th century at the site of an earlier chapel. The church was almost completely destroyed during the Second World War and was rebuilt after that. Today the church stands in the plaza next to the Hauptwache. It is a nice looking church with... The church is famous that Goethe was baptised here. It was built around 1670, but totally destroyed during the war. It stand very close to Hauptwache, the central point of the city.

Germany has many beautiful churches and this is certainly one of them, both externally and internally. Once again it is a lovely piece of tranquility away from the hustle and bustle outside from the Christmas Market. I think being light inside adds to its beauty. The ceiling is very impressive.

This beautiful and historic church is the Largest Lutheran church in Frankfurt and is named in honor of the early Christian saint, Catherine of Alexandria. It is located in the center of Frankfurt and is well worth visiting. Photographs are permitted in its interior.
