My wife and I took the cable car ride during our visit to Rudesheim. It was part of a Christmas Market tour with Tauck. Beautiful views of the city and the Rhine river. Dress warm if you take this ride during the winter.
The Aschmannhausen to Rudesheim skilift and cruise round trip is a great way to spend a day on this part of the spectacular Rhine River. Walk through Aschmannhausen to the seilbahn (skilift) terminal. Ride up the hill over the vineyards to the top then take...More
Excellent views of the Rhine river in Rudesheim. Yes it is cold (especially in December) but you can wear appropriate clothing to make it better. When you get to the top you can walk around and see the statue and the spectacular views. Bring a...More

When you get off the seilbahn there was only an imbiss with tables for a beer and maybe a bratwurst (the views were good); if you walk for about 20-25 min toward the seilbahn to Assmannhausen you'll pass the Hotel Jagdschloss Niederwald, I think they had a nice courtyard to have a formal meal.
