One of the most extensive orchids collection that I ever seen, even for me who came from a place famous for orchids. The garden is beautiful and all the flowers are blossoming.

This was the most excellent botanical garden I have seen. Was there early in June and the iris were in full bloom. The orchid house was wonderful and the new succulent garden in the courtyard is beautiful. Very well designed and tended. would love to be closer to see it change during the seasons. What a gem!

The Berggarten is part of the "Gardens of Herrenhausen" and has a botanical garden with several areas like prairie, bog, perennial shrubs and so on. There are some mini lakes/water basins where you can see frogs and dragonflies and there are several greenhouses. One of them containing the famous orchid collection. It is well worth a visit throughout the year.... More

Visiting Hannover is always a part of my agenda whenever I go to Germany - once a year at least. With so many attractions there we get a chance of going to some point of interest. This time we visited the Berggarten, a treasure house of botanic diversity which remain open round the year. It has over 12,000 species of... More

Various different types of plantings/ landscapes invite you to rest , smell or just stroll along. Two greenhoses give shelter from bad weather. One with canarian plant, the other with three climatic themes: hot-dry (desert), warm-dry (subtropic), hot-dry (tropic). The later ones invite to rest an are inhabites by fish & turtles and birds.

This is secondary place if you visit herrenhausen garden, just need about 30 minutes to explore the area. Nothing too interesting except the mausoleum.

We enjoyed a pleasant stroll around the gardens, helped by the good weather that day. Sadly part of the gardens were closed for health and safety reasons. On our visit the mausoleum was also locked.

Well worth a visit to the "lungs" of the city! Park in the main car park for 3 Euros for the day, or use the public transport - it's quite a way from the centre.

more of a botanic garden, it had different areas with thematic planting - a long row of Canna in flower in September for example. The prairie garden was a bit wild but still beautiful and alive with bees. One area is shut off because the 300-year-old Lime (Linden) trees are dangerous and are being cut down - I hope they...
