Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Kropeliner Tor is named after the small town of Kropelin and is the tallest of all Rostock’s gates at 54m. It was built in the 13th and 14th centuries and has been restored several times. A team used to run through the arch. Today however, it is the home of the Rostock History Workshop who manage the town’s fortifications along with a library and displays.

Kröpeliner Tor is one of the old city gates of Rostock, and is located at the end of one of the best pedestrian streets. The city wall can also be seen several places around the old city.

Apparently the largest of the twenty two city wall gates. Very impressive and well worth a look if you get a chance.

This was an interesting introduction to the history of Rostock, and it was also great to enjoy the views from the top of the tower!

Probably the tallest of the gate towers and clearly one of the originals. It is very impressive when seen from the main shopping street, where it sits at the west end, and gets more interesting as you get closer. You can enter but we didn’t have enough time. Worth a look.

The tall brick gate is now a place for exhibitions. By looking at it and the town wall nearby you can imagine the fortifications in place to defend the town. On the back of the tower is the symbol of Pomerania. We saw this griffin symbol in Gdańsk as well. It makes you realize that the current political divisions were not always in place.

Probably the prettiest of the many former city gates from the 13 century. It is standing by itself at the end of shopping street.
Looks a bit out of place

The Tor has six stories only accessible by stairs so unfortunately people with mobility problems are left to enjoy the structure from the street
