This very plain church houses a viewing platform at 44 meters. It's accessed via a lift with a nominal €3 charge. The views from the top are superb and its the only place from which you have uninterrupted views.

The church itself is nothing special, and seen in 10 minutes. But there is a room with pictures, where you can see how it was rebuild after being burned down, quite interesting. Also you can take a lift to the tower with a nice view.

I'm not sure if this church is free or not, but at least entry to the spire is charged, but it's a modest fee to use a lift to get a stunning view of the city. There is wire netting, but you can either focus...More

We walked to the church and found it was free to enter. There isn't much to see except a few model ships hanging from the ceiling. You can pay to take the lift up the steeple (you have to pay even if you use the...More

You can go to the top (up 4 floors) by elevator or steps. Their is 169 stone circular steps with 28 wooden steps totalling 197 - trust me we walked them. Once you get to the top you can pay to look in a telescope...More

We found neither interior nor exterior particularly interesting. From the tower you can take some pictures of the old town (there are dedicated spaces in safety nets). Nothing worthwhile on the opposite side.

If you visit St. Petrikirche the best thing to do is walk the more than 200 narrow, tight steps to the tower where you can observe the town of Rostock from a high point. It's very quiet as not many tourists seem to find their...More

I enjoyed walking round the church and looking at quite a good collection of modern artwork, some of it quite irreverent. The lift up the tower at €3 is worth it but the view was spoilt by quite fine gauge wire netting which made photography...More

We visited Rostock as part of a port stop at Warnemunde on a Baltic cruise and took a ferry from Warnemunde to Rostock and return. A very easy way to get around and cheap. In Rostock we sought out St Peter church, which was on...More

We went to Rostock by boat from Warnemünde. A pleasant ride down a very undistinguished estuary. A stoll around Rostock produced the same feelings. I had thought that, being in the former East Germany, it might be rather run down. But this was not the...More
