I am really spoilt to be able to say that I have relatives that live in Schwerin and have had the pleasure of visiting a couple of times know. On arrival in the city we drove past the Schloss and its absolutely beautiful, its a prominent figure surrounded by manicured gardens, and the lake. I was fortunate to take a... More

Whilst we didn't visit inside the castle, we were content to walk around it, seeing picturesque views along the way. The lake itself welcomes photos and it was partly iced over when we were there. The adjacent park on the other side of the castle is very pretty to walk through. The castle exterior is indeed interesting and different. It... More

I took the train from Hamburg to see the Schwerin Castle by myself, when I had a free day during a business trip and I'm very glad I did. The city itself is pretty and the walk from the main train station to the castle was lovely. The castle itself is breathtaking inside and out. The interiors and their contents... More

From the first glimpse across the bridge, to the interiors, to the gardens and their views, this place is just amazing! Nothing else I can think of to say will really describe this place. It's set on an island to one side of a larger lake, the location offers plenty of variety from the exterior views. The interiors are just... More

The interior is not all that impressive but the grounds and exterior make it a must see. Great photo opportunities on a nice day. It looks like a real Disney castle. Interesting pre-kaiser and pre German unification history inside. If you rent a car from the cruise ship stop in Wandermudde (sp?) It is a very easy drive and worth... More

We had an hour's guided tour around this castle which is undergoing massive renovations. The history was well explained by our guide and we started in an area which has deliberatley not been renovated to show the condition in which it was left after it had been used to home people during the years the area was part of the... Former ducal palace set on an island in the middle of the lake. Although the island is not that far from the shore. The palace is partially open to visitors as the local parliament occupies the rest of the building. You can visit the state rooms and rooms displaying the former ducal porcelain collection, silverware and armoury. As the former... More

Since its the only place that you can visit in Schwerin you must watch it!! Go inside and take the tour...the ticket is expensive 8euros per person ,but is a beautiful castle. Outside also is beautiful!! They must fix the price of the ticket. Parthenon-Greece ,the no.1 sighting in the planet with 3000 year old history costs 10 euro, and... More

Located in the quiet but beautiful city of Schwerin, surrounded by green areas and lakes make this castle a very romantic location. One of the most beautiful castles of Germany (in my opinion) and it also has beautiful gardens to take an afternoon walk with some good company.

It was part of the former... More
