We went on a day trip to visit he Schwerin Castle from Berlin. Unfortunately, we missed the earlier train so we arrived two hours later than scheduled (it was already 2pm) so it kind of took away from the trip. It was a beautiful, beautiful...More

Imposing and historical, yet still in use by the democratic successors of the former inhabitants on one end. So not a dead building but one very much still in use and being renovated/restored. The difference is that there seems to be money to keep the...More

This was an amazing castle both inside and out. The sad thing to remember is that all of the furnishings were looted during the war so you can only imagine what it must have looked like before.

We came here with our 3 month old. Enjoyed the backyard and went for a tour inside. Although the inside isn’t as impressive as the outside, it is worth a trip. A stunning palace in a beautiful city.

Really wonderfully restored schloss. Now the headquarters of the local parliament. The decorated rooms which you are allowed into are wonderful and we'll worth the money to enter. Only negative is some of the security staff and a bit officious and not very helpful.

Self guided tours are 8.50 euros and an audio pack is another 2 euro's. In terms of travel from Berlin to there I would suggest going to the schwerin web site for more details and trip packages. Hope this helps.

I booked an excursion with the Celebrity cruise ship during our port stop at Warnemunde. My suggestion is to take a bus tour around the city & a visit to the Schwerin castle if you don't want the long hours to Berlin.

While Mitte is a closer station be sure that your train stops there. Most inter city trains will be stopping at the main station.
