A fantastic example of the old German architecture. It is nice to take in on a sunny warm day, but my preference is when the weather is cool, the Christmas market is in full swing. It just has a special glow at that time of year.

It was a beautiful building. I loved learning the history of Charlemagne and the tour guide was very good. Despite the weddings and council meeting being held, it was roomy and the other staff were all polite.

This is a must really when in Aachen. It is really hard to miss as it is right in the middle of the old city "Altstadt". I do recommend having some coffee in one of the coffee shops overviewing it. Also, do read about its history before visiting, this really makes visiting the site much more interesting.

We went there some days ago and were very impressed by the surounding square and scenery. It is definately a place to sit nearby, drink a cup of coffee and enjoy the view!

A historic place. The build is an architectural highlight & a cultural hallmark for a European city. Distinguished Europeans receive the Annual Peace Award in this city.

Huge, imposing structure that was once part of Charlemagne's digs. Inside is rather bare of furnishings, but the rooms are awesome anyway. Especially interesting is the film denoting the destruction at the end of WW II.

I was pleasantly surprised with our short visit to the City Hall. The Gothic architecture was striking and the audio guide gave good explanations of the history of the city hall, from the 1300's to the present, including the signing of the peace treaty to end the Austrian War of Succession. The rooms were filled with artwork including portraits of... More
