Interesting exhibitions – the building itself is great, too

We visited 2 galleries today, the premier of 'touchdown' a look into the lives of people diagnosed with Down's syndrome, and 'Rhein' a look into art history overviewing the Rhein. I can quickly summarise that the touchdown exhibition was very very good, and for a totally fair price, plus we had the opening day, so were treated to a fantastic... More

It was a rainy, rainy day in Bonn and we decided to spend it in Bundeshalle because of reviews on your site. We were not lucky and the exhibitions were very boring. So. be sure you know whether the exhibition you are going to visit is really interesting for you.

We visited an exhibition about the Bauhaus movement. It was very interesting and bigger than I had anticipated. Compared to other German art museums I thought the tickets were too expensive (~12 USD per exhibition). The museum’s architecture itself is worth a trip: Have a look at the pyramid shaped lightwells on the roof or the benches in the foyer... More

i saw a number of very well organized exhibitons already in this museum. just recently the 'Japanese' expressionists, i.e. it is a collection of most European artists like Monet, Turner, Renoir which have many of their paintings in Japanese Museum. This is why it is very rare to see these originals unless you often go to Japan and go to... More

There is a lot of changing top exhibitions of modern art. The Bundeskunsthalle has a very good reputation worldwide, so they get very good exhibits. They display three to five differenet themes simultaneously, in general. Look at their homepage before planning- it is worth. It is a good day trip when you are in Cologne (with secondary line half an... More

Huge galleries, with small pieces of art. Austere, cold atmosphere. Medium size collection, all modern.

The exhibition of Impressionism Art from Japan collections is amazing. I spent an hour and a bit the first time I came during the lunch time, but this was not enough for me - and I came back just before the dinner, in the evening. Before I came here, I didn't even know that there is an extensive collection of... More

Lovely architecture that houses interesting art. Very accessible from the public train system and close to the park on the Rhine.

Enjoyed all 3 exhibits available on the day of our visit. Has also a very good restaurant (but be sure that you point out correctly what you want from the menue... or else you might get something similar, e.g. vegeterian instead of with meat).

Wonderful Karl Lagerfeld exhibition at the Bundeskunsthalle. There is everything from all the special Channel buttons to the "tailleurs" and original ball gowns. The last room with original long dress creations is a visual feast. Laser cut paper hanging from the ceiling create a stunning frame for absolutely spectacular creations. Very highly recommended!
