There aren't just "old" guests, the cemetery seems to be still in use. It is a quiet oasis close to the city centre, where Robert Schumann and Clara Wieck rest in peace, together with many famous and less famous people.

We don’t make a habit of visiting graveyards but are happy we made an exception for Alter Friedhof. It is a lovely, quiet spot in a bustling city, fairly well maintained for a very old spot (though folks are still being buried in the space)....More
Quiet graveyard (ok, no surprise here) with a collection of stonegraves covering the last 200+ years. Makes you contemplate how it all ends and walk over to the Altstadt, have some beer and contemplate some more.
