Deciding a rating for this experience is difficult. Segwaying through the city was a great experience, however I was disappointed with the guide and the company's response to my complaint.
There were just two of us taking the tour, myself (female) and my partner (male). When conveying information at the various stops around the city, the tour leader would talk to my partner and rarely look to me when talking. Even when I asked a question, the answer was delivered to my partner and the tour guide would only briefly look towards me. It is a core skill of a tour guide to include the whole group and this was not met, despite just two of us in the group. As this was happening from the beginning of the tour, I can only assume this was gender based. Despite the fact that I was the person who booked the tour, I first greeted the guide and I paid for the tour, I was marginalised and not fully included which is disappointing. Whether this was intentional or subconscious, both my partner and I left the tour noting I was excluded. This is a really disheartening experience to feel like you aren't respected or valued in a conversation, or that the tour guide isn't interested in engaging with you.
I emailed the above issue to the company. I received an apology however this was highly dismissive as it was followed up by saying theyve only had positive feedback about that tour guide, that I probably misunderstood, and that I should have raised the issue on the tour.
While the tour guide did welcome feedback at the start of the tour, I was not comfortable raising this issue as I didn't know how the guide would respond which could make the three hour experience even more uncomfortable. For participants to feel comfortable raising issues, they need to feel respected and valued which I absolutely did not.
The company have not responded to my second email. I would have been happy to discuss the issue with the company to understand why it happened and understand how they will avoid it happening again but beyond an initial dismissive apology (where I was blamed for not raising the complaint during the tour), they have decided not to engage with me.
The tour guide also a comment during the break that he sees one of the biggest issues in the country is the number of refugees. It was made clear this was a personal opinion, however this made me feel very uncomfortable and attacking some of the most vulnerable people in society isn't something that should be expressed on such an excursion. This is clearly a cultural difference on what we view as acceptable to discuss, but a company that offers tours to people from different countries should be aware of cultural norms.

3 hours of fun on a Segway through Cologne.
We booked tje Colonia tour. Our guide was Johannes and allthough the tour language was German, Johannes explained everything in English very well and just for us 2.

After we got the hang of the Segway, which was a bit awkward at first but soon became a lot of fun, the tour started. We learned interesting facts about Cologne which was really good. The coffee break was very welcome.
The only tip is to get off the Segway more often. Think everyone would appreciate that, having time for photos and relaxing as we were not used to standing still on the Segway.

Amazing experience, johannes was very knowledgeable of all the sights and kept us at a pace that was good for the group. Gave us a great overview of the city and gave us a good idea of different bits we wanted to go back and see in greater detail (like going to the top of the cathedral!!). Can highly recommend doing during your stay here!

Riding the Segway was a great way to see Koln. Our teenage daughter loved it. She is normally not thrilled to go sight seeing. Johannes was an awesome guide. We are going to recommend this tour to friends!

I had never used a Segway before so I needed an introduction which was thoroughly and patiently and included a test run before we hit the streets. The tour itself was very nice and ‚insider‘ spots. Max even offered to customize the tour in case we wanted to see any particular place that was not included by default. He was super friendly and the made the tour really fun.

After a thorough safety briefing which included not only riding the Segway but Covid regulations for our tour, and disinfecting our Segways, we were given a tour of various points around Cologne. The tour had a time balance of various historical and architectural information including other interesting facts about the city as well as some fun time to enjoy the Segway ride, besides the cold. Alexander was polite, friendly and knowledgeable, thanks for the great tour! Recommended👍🏻

What a great day! I went on the classic tour with two friends and Max our guide. It took only a few minutes to include Max as a friend! We went fast, slow, over and through the city, learning all the way! Our favorite was the underground parking structure singing the 'mission impossible' tune at fun speeds! Thanks for a great day Max!

There is a new law in Germany for electronic verhicles which allows everyone from the age of 14 and a body weight between 45 kg and 117 kg (100 lb and 258 lb) to ride a Segway.

For Sat, 28 April we can only offer you a tour in the afternoon at 4:00 pm. If you have the chance to do a tour on Friday, we have more possibilites (11:30 am, 3:00 pm, 4:00 pm) and the city is not that crowded. Este tour tarda tres horas (la instrucción esta incluido) y cuesta 75 Euros por persona.
