This is one of the larger old towns that I have visited and well worth the visit. Situated partly along the Rein makes for a very nice spot to sit and watch the barges quietly float by.

Loved visiting here last night, certainly got me into the Christmas spirit. Spent the day in and out of shops, then when it got dark the place came alive with lights music and smells of food getting cooked on stalls. This place is also renowned for the 'longest bar in the world' as there are something like well over 260... More

the old town of Dusseldorf is very beautiful and old, you have to try the local beer (alt beer) in the downtown, there are many kinds :-)

We really enjoy walking around the Altstadt particularly during the season of the Christmas markets. However customer service is still an issue ! If France is spending millions on improving their friendliness and on customer service training Nord Rhein Westfalen seriously needs to look at investing much more because it is arguably the worst service you can possibly receive anywhere... Spent an evening at the Christmas market here enjoying a few Gluhwein. Really seasonal and friendly market that will fill your soul with seasonal cheer(or maybe that's just the Gluhwein) if in town it's a must

We only had a quick wander through to find food (loads of options). Ended up in a bar with table a table dancer, not sleazy, and a great environment.

Lots of nice places to eat drink and see at this time of year. You have got to visit the Irish bar for a good pint of Guinness.

We been for Carnival the first time. Was one of the best (after Maspalomas). Then decided to go for the Kirmis by the river in September and to olde town afterwards. Party with the Rheinländer is always very nice.
