Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Wouldn't go out of the way to seek this out, but there is enough nearby to warrant including it in your sightseeing... Nice area.

This is a small museum and is difficult to miss if you are walking around near Rhine. It provides a good photo opporunity in the evening when there is a crowd and sun sets against the river bank.

The only surviving part of the original palace which stood at the site, the white tower has a circular base and lower floors while the top two floors are octagonal. The tower now houses a maritime museum.

Interesting place to visit for some history of Dusseldorf and the Schlossturm. Helpful staff, we were the only visitors at the time and staff took time to explain things to us which was very helpful. Lovely was to pass an hour with a little cafe at the top serving breakfast, drinks and cakes - with views over Rhine.

I loved this museum. It is a small fee of 3 euro to view it. But it gives you a clear history of the city and how it became an important shipping city. At the top of the museum is a nice little cafe with great drinks and appetizers. Although, all of the information is in German, there is English place cards and an English video to watch. So, no need to worry about missing out on anything.

As our stay on the city was short, we only looked from the outside and toke some pictures.
We had a fun day.

The museum was pretty cheap to get in and it's a very cute building. The exhibits are very interesting and it was good to learn some more of the history of Dusseldorf. The boats game was pretty fun too.

We were in Dseldorf for the Christmas market and were looking for somewhere quiet where we could sit and have a drink and relax for a while (Markets very busy so few places to actually sit down) We paid the 3Euro each entry fee and looked around the museum which was really interesting with loads of the history of the river. Great to have a go on the simulator of driving a Rhine barge with the old and new controls. Got to the top floor where the bar and restaurant are and were very pleasantly surprised. Very clean and good service with plenty of seating. Prices seemed reasonable and the views are great. Well worth the entrance fee for a break from the crowds for a while.

Whatever you do, do not eat at the cafe at top of the tower. We had the pasta which looked and tasted like a microwave meal from Tesco. The chef behaved like Gordon Ramsey on Hells Kitchen. Disgusting attitude and food to match. Such a shame as the staff at the bottom are lovely and the historians have done a wonderful job of showing the shipping history of Düsseldorf.

For history buffs the most interesting thing is that the tower was part of the 13th century castle that was built where the Dussel River enters the Rhine River.
