Very cute but looks better than it is to ride. Takes on a tour around Mainz but for kids it does smell like gas and isn't truly a real train. The better train for kids to ride is in volkspark for fun but it's a locals thing.

My husband and I are visiting from Canada and thought this would be a fun way to see the city. A big mistake! We saw construction sites, shops, port a loos, lots of cars, a few significant buildings! The recording was always way too late in terms of what buildings we passed. (I speak French, English and German!) I really... More

we were able to see much of Mainz and areas we had not yet see. Tour was in German and English, but My impression was that the English version was not as detailed as the German version. It does give you a good overview of the old city. Cost was 9 Euro in July 2015

It costs nine euros. it is a short trip and it is not very comfortable. The plastic on the windows is old, scratched and yellowed, which makes it a poor viewing of the city and bad taking picture. The ride is good for kids and my son enjoyed being on the train

I found a brochure for this attraction in the Tourist Office but couldn't find any information in English which I though was strange seeing the idea is to attract tourists from other countries to use the train. However, we could see the price was 9 Euro pp and the area it departed from. The person from the tourist office also... More

I went to Mainz in April 2014 for one day, and it was difficult to see the attractions in a short trip...so I decided to take the Gutenburg-Express which will take for 50 minutes around the main attractions. It saved me the time to walk around this lovely city, unfortunately you can not stop if you want to a specific... More

It costs nine euros. it is a short trip and it is not very comfortable. The plastic on the windows is old, scratched and yellowed, which makes it a poor viewing of the city and bad taking picture. There are explanations in English and French but it is very hard to hear with the noise. Go on foot and it... More

The train ride is less than an hour long and shows you the locations of several landmarks or museums in the area. However, it plays a recording in German, French and English. Often times, by the time the recording spoke in English, we had passed the site or could not hear what was being said because it rides on cobblestone... More
