A cool and golden statue close to the water

There is only one such thing in Dresden. It photographs well against the sky and is near a Lidl if you fancy a salad,a croiussant and a roll or drink!!

Definitely a cool place to see, but not exactly a destination. Worth visiting while passing by, though.

This is an interesting spot. For some, if your group goes their own way, it is a good spot to meet up later. It just looks interesting.

We found this statue by a coincident, and sure, it was cool but nothing special that I would cross the river just to see it. It is very well made, and painting as well. Close to the river and the bridge, and thanks to this statue we went to see more of Neustadt and that was something very nice.

very golden and really not worth going out of one's way to see it. We may not have appreciated the finess or historical significance, but it seems we weren't the only ones.

Not worthy of a special visit but if you are in the area and have a few minutes to spare then go look at the statue, read the inscriptions and soak up some of the old history of Saxony

The Goldener Reiter (Golden Rider) is a landmark equestrian statue that can be seen just past Augustusbrucke (bridge) open entering Innere Neustradt on the north bank of the Elbe River. This monument is a gilded statue of Fredrick Augustus of Saxony that was originally cast between 1732-1734 and unveiled to the public in 1736. Augustus is seated upon a rearing... More

Even though you pass by quickly, this is a must see. The gold is spectacular - hope for a sunny day but it's great even in gloom.

The Goldener Reiter is a gilded equestrian statue of Augustus II (the Strong) and it’s the showiest thing at sight when approaching the Dresden Neustadt district along the Augustbridge from the Schlossplatz. Augustus the Strong was Elector of Saxony and King of Poland and under his auspices many splendid baroque buildings were built in Dresden, among which the Zwinger is... More

I am certain Augustus was a fine leader worthy of a statue. This one is very bright and shiny. For my taste a bit too bright to the point of being gaudy. It's located just at the north side of the Augustus Bridge, so easy to reach from the old town.
