Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A big thank you to Juergen Donde for one of the best city walking tours we have experienced anywhere. Knowledgeable and witty, he interacted with the group optimally and kept us all alert, interested and amused. And a loud voice, so everyone heard everything!

We took the self-guided audio tour available through the tourist information office and it was well worth the cost! We could go at our own pace and see what we wanted, when we wanted. Great value!

If you are on a river cruise or travelling by road from the southwest to Berlin make the time to visit. Not only did the city surprise in terms of size but its history. We visited Wittenberg as part of trip to the October fest in Munich and then Berlin. We had an opportunity to visit the historic landmarks. It is a pity the church Castle Church and the site where, in 1517, Martin Luther changed the course of history when he nailed his 95 Theses of Contention to the church door at Wittenberg, accusing the Roman Catholic Church of heresy, is under repair and the fellow supposed to man the information centre was nowhere to be found. For every Protestant Christian this is a must see. Visiting Luther's house which is now a museum brings the visitor in close contact with the enormity of what Luther had done that far back in history.

We visited Wittenberg as part of our Viking river cruise on the Elbe River. We had an opportunity to visit many of the historic landmarks including Market Square where we enjoyed a glorious German dark beer and pretzel. Our walk along the cobbled streets included the Luther House, the Castle Church and the site where, in 1517 on Halloween, Martin Luther changed the course of history when he nailed his 95 Theses of Contention to the church door at Wittenberg, accusing the Roman Catholic Church of heresy.

Very helpful people indeed, not only for service times, etc, and Wittenberg sites associated with Luther and the reformation, but also for information about tours of the town, trains, buses, plays at the theatre and cruises on the river Elbe. If possible, speak to them before you go, to help make the most of your visit. Tel +49 3491 - 49 86 10. They speak English, of course.

We rented audio machines for our day in Wittenberg from the tourist bureau. It helped us make sense of the many buildings we saw. Also was great for explaining how Luther and his friends lived day to day in Wittenberg in the 1500's. It is hard to imagine this very neat Aldstadt area as it looked, smelled, sounded, and felt 500 years ago. The audio helped us get past the 21st century trappings to delve into history.

The Wittenberg Tourist Office did a tremendous job helping us plan a week's stay in Wittenberg for the 500th anniversary of the Reformation the last week of October, 2017. We were communicating with them from the beginning of 2017 receiving suggestions and help in finding an apartment to rent, making dinner reservations and reserving tickets for special events. They continued to be helpful during the week we were in Wittenberg despite their office being flooded with thousands of tourists all asking for help. The tourist office is worth a visit just to browse the gift shop, but if you need assistance, you'll find it here. A big thank you to the Wittenberg Tourist Office!
