It is not far away from Kiel. Very nice place to enjoy a day by the sea, and have some historical to see for tourist! Nice attraction of Kiel.

Ever wondered how much space you would have on a submarine? Well, it's definitely not much as you can experience first hand at this exhibition site. Mind your head and step! Supervise your youngsters closely and explore with them this submarine from WW2. If you are claustrophobic, do not enter! If you have walking-disability, be very very careful where you... More

Spent the day in Laboe and decided to visit the U-Boot. It is very interesting even if you do not have a "Navy" or "Marine" background. Well worth a visit.

If you've never seen the inside of a submarine you will be amazed at how small it is inside. This is a well restored submarine and is on land for easy access. From Kiel you can take a tour, a local bus or a ferry to get to the other side of the canal. This is a very worthwhile attraction.... More

We took a city bus through the beautiful countryside from downtown Kiel, about one hour. Lahoe is a beautiful beachside town. The U-boat was extremely interesting. The naval memorial adjacent to it is not to be missed. It took about 20 min to tour the U-Boat, but we spent about 3 hours in the town. Plenty of lovely restaurants and... More

Busted the U boot(955) during a weekend which was a little busy. Best time to visit would be during the week. However don't be put off. The museum has restored the U-boot to its wartime operational appearance. Even with a loaded torpedo (hopefully decommissioned)! It's a great experience for kids to venture inside a sub and see how sub Mariners... More

Having heard of Keil and kiel canal etc thought we would call in. Great looking in the u boat (very compact) and looking out at the top of the watch tower. Although take the lift up ... it's a long walk up the steps!

You may have watched many films about WW2 and those who fought in Submarines on both sides. This will bring it home how why such things should never happen again, and how Submariners would have lived. If you dislike confined spaces, this is not for you.
