Also nice if you are not too familiar with the Thomas-Mann and his family - literature

Thomas Mann described Lübeck and the house his Buddenbrooks live in very well - here you can see for yourself that most it is real. Even if you have not read the grand novel about the merchant family, you will have an extraordinary experience here as the museum makes you curious for more (and maybe you will read the book... A great museum for lovers of The Mann Family. Lot of history. Audio, video and written information. A replica of two of the rooms in the Buddenbrookhaus, where Thomas Mann lived. Each item in the rooms are marked with pages from the Buddenbrokk, so that you can read in the book at the same time as you walk around in... More

Having read Nobel Prize winner, Thomas Mann's book, Buddenbrooks, this was one of the highlights of my trip to Luebeck. Some rooms had furniture from the original family and exhibits about the book Buddenbrooks and its author, Thomas Mann, abound in the house. There is a small charming shop selling nice items.

If you have read the famous novel “The Buddenbrook” of the great German writer Thomas Mann(up to the end…), you will be surely interested by this place. The house looks like many others in this town. It is worth a visit, but you could also get rid of it. To me, it’s was more interesting to know how was the... More

Ever read the novel "Buddenbrooks" by Thomas Mann? The author was born and raised in Lübeck. This museum is dedicated to him and his family but furthermore to his very famous novel "Buddenbrooks". Even if you have not read the book (yet) you can do so inside the museum. Furniture is labelled with corresponding pages within the novel. Take a... More

The folk that put this place together faced a pretty big obstacle: the house had been utterly destroyed by WWII bombing, save for the facade. The decision was to not rebuild the house, but rather to maintain the facade and use the space for a Thomas Mann museum. And that is what you get. For someone without a really good... More

We travelled to Luebeck explicitly to see the Buddenbrookhouse because we are huge fans of Thomas Mann. The facade on Meng Strasse was stunning, as you see from the pictures but Luebeck city should be ashamed that they have stuck a large, garish car park sign just on the left of the house, which it is difficult to avoid when...
