For those constantly in love with the sea and sea-spirit Travemünde can be a nice option for a day trip. A bit overcrowded in late spring and summer, but that is understandable, as it offers a nice promenade, a lot of small cafes and shops and, of course, a wonderful sea view.

Unless you enjoy boat tours (for example, to Lubeck), there is nothing special with the town itself.

Clean, wide coastline, suitable for walkers, dog owners ( October- March), nature lovers and ornithologists. Also many shops and restaurants, catering for all tastes.

I was in Travemunde for a day alone for a nice stroll around. It was such a fresh and comfortable feeling. It's not overpacked with tourists and you can simply enjoy the calmness of this little town. If you like, go for a swim in the Baltic Sea and fresh up! ☺️

This is a nice beach with a good boardwalk behind for cycling and rollerblading. The beach is clean with good facilities for kids, although the water isn't as inviting as places a little way down the coast such as Timmerndorfer Strand.

The Baltic resort of Travemünde lies on the boundaries of Lübeck. Travemünde is both a charming seaside town and major port with ferries linking Germany with Gothenburg, Helsinki and Malmö. Enjoy the fresh sea air walking along the 20-m-wide, 1.7-km-long Strandpromenade (beach promenade) with attractions like the Strandterrasse and the Seegarten and a fantastic view of the Bay of Lübeck,... We took the train from Lubeck and the boat back. A lovely beach with row upon row of wind chairs and a working harbour, Baltic ferries, fishing boats and pleasure craft. Plenty of places to eat and shops galore. One problem how did the local planners allow a multi storey hotel to totally despoil the seafront, it is just so... More

Nice beach with a few really interesting places and restaurants to visit. Take the way down to Niendorf, you will find a green beach, which is even nicer than the main beach.
