This is the landmark of the city of Erfurt. It has two churches combined in one sprawling building: The Mariendom (Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary) and the Severikirche (St. Severus Church).

This is the place where Luther was ordained. The steps up to the Cathedral were steep, but offered a sense of going up into the presence of God.

It's a huge cathedral and it's absolutely worth visiting! If you mind stairs, there is a walkway around the hill, which is longer but no stairs.

Built on top of what I think is the only hill in town it is a huge baroque structure that is quite stunning. The interior has among the very best stained glass windows we have ever seen.
