I took my children to the 8pm program Space Symphony program. I knew it was to music, which is why we went, since we do not speak or understand German I figured it was 'safe' and would be entertaining. It was not a stars/planets show- it was some odd psychedelic program. Lot's of twirling flowers and lasers and a shadow... More

One of the oldest planetariums in the world in the heart of the city of Jena. In walking distance from the city center. Check available shows online.

I was very disappointed by the planetarium, it was nothing like i had expected. I had expected at least some relevance to space, maybe some educational facts, some interesting graphics of the solar system, something interesting about planets or stars. Nothing of the sort, this was purely a graphics show to music throughout, it had some singers/dancers doing a routine... More

Wow, I didn't expect such fine dining in the restaurant at the Planetarium. It was of an exceptionally high standard and should be seen as a "destination" in its own right. I will certainly return whether there is something on in the Planetarium that I wish to see or not.

The oldest continuously operating planetarium in the world makes gazing at the stars and planets an exciting and informative experience. Although I was mystified by the sudden transformation of the star-studded cupola into a rock concert featuring Queen, I have to concede that it was an electrifying evening. Not quite what I expected and definitely not what I remembered from... More

First time to bring my daughter to the planetarium and she was so amazed to see the stars above her head. We found dificulties to reach this place due to wrong ways. Take couple minutes by walk, but it worthed. We bought some unique merchandiser.

I attended a conference and one of the evening activities was dinner inside the planetarium dome. I am an amateur astronomer and have loved Planetariums since I was child. This planetarium in Jena, where the large planetarium projectors essentially had their origin (Carl Zeiss), was special. Having a 3-course dinner with very nice wine under the dome with the stars...
