Having visited the famous Ludwig castles in Germany and others across Europe, we drove up the mountain to this Ducal Residence with modest expectations. We drove down two hours later totally and happily blown away! The castle has not been kept up as well as many; however, the sheer number and exceptional quality of the interior rooms are unmatched. It is just a short climb from the city, views are nice, garden as well, nice restaurant on top and, of course several museums always... More

Visited here last month on our trip through Germany. Toured the castle itself and then the museum. The little, miniature figurines and houses/palaces--etc. on display are quite interesting, as are the interesting "sleds" the nobility used to play on, apparently having races with them. Some are very different looking. Also, don't miss the armory with the old weapons. Like many... More
