German National Theater (DNT) on one side and Bauhaus Museum on the opposite and Goethe Kaufhaus on one perpendicular side and an outdoor ice parlor on the other side, Theaterplatz is one of the busiest spots in Weimar. The most prominent attractions are the statues of Goethe and Schiller, the famous German writers which stand almost in the middle of... More

To be standing on the soil where the German democracy was born an almost divine experience. Looking at the statues of 2 of the most brilliant thinkers and writers of this country made me proud of my heritage and made me appreciate the German reunification even more!

This was a interesting area to people watch. It is in a walking area of the city or fussganger. There are many shops, eateries and a couple of museums in the immediate area. The park is nearby. About 200 yards away in another square-platz there is a visitor information booth that had English speaking people.

The statues of the German legends Goethe and Schiller are located in front of the German National Theatre. Although I'm not sure i would make a point of seeking it out, the Theaterplatz is located in the middle of the city so you are bound to pass through it and by the statues it at least once.

Take your obligatory photograph with the giants of Weimar. That's about all there is for this place, however.

Feel that nearer history has been lost, as the DNT was the governmental seat from 1919 to 1933 of the Republic, it would have been nice to be remembered. Popular with tourists taking in the culture and gazing at the figures.

This place is right in the center of the city. The famous statue is just in front of the Theater. We were in Winter, during the Christmas period, and they had installed an ice rink around it. It was nice to see the people, happy to be there, and the children playing. Weimar is one of the most beautiful cities... More

Probably there is nothing special about this place, but you pas through this market if you walk from the train station to the centre. It is a nice place, with those two important writers of Germany in the middle, holding hands. :)

These two famous statues of Goethe and Schiller, situated in the center of the city, is for sure the passage that you won’t miss. Just take your time to admire these 2 historical figures before visiting the nearby museums or the shopping center.

Here are the famous statues of Goethe and Schiller in front of the Theatre. This building has a plaque on it commemorating the founders of the Bauhaus. This square is at the centre of the town and all streets lead from it to the other attractions
