Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Deutsches Nationaltheater and Staatskapelle Weimar is a jewel in the crown of German culture, and well worth a visit. Current opera productions include a risky and experimental 'Tristan und Isolde' (Wagner), an amazing 'Fiery Angel' (Prokofiev) which is worth the journey across Germany to see, and 'Le nozze di Figaro. which includes a dramatic use of changing scenery that invites disaster and tests the skill of the stagehands and technicians. Upcoming is 'Die Lustige Witwe' (Lehar) and a revival of Wagner's complete Ring cycle.
The Schauspiel (German language theater) has a number of interesting productions, some of which get lost in the onstage brutality which seems typical of Schauspiel in Germany, and the lack of any real character focus among the predominantly young actors. Worth seeing is the modern take on Shakespeare's 'Der Sturm'.
The orchestra of Weimar has a history that dates back to 1491, and sometimes one is made aware of this history without being aware of any particular quality of playing that distinguishes it from other orchestras. But they excel in the Germanic repertoire, as one would expect a decent German orchestra to do.

It is the most famous point of city center and good for photo shooting and nice place to watch a classic story theater there. During Christmas market they make a ice skating field and you can enjoy beside Goethe and Schiller :)

Very interesting small size opera house and the seat of Staatskapelle Weimar. I went to see Die Zauberflote and it was very good production with great music played by the very orchestra and sang and performed by very talented (also as actors) singers. Because it's small in size there is avery close contact with the musicians and the scenography is also being changed like in the old theatres which I find very amusing and fun. Overall, great place to spend the evening.

A great company and a great theatre. But be careful what you go to hear - some of their productions are "German director-dictatorship" gone mad. We saw a production of Verdi's I Masnadieri which is genuinely the worst production I have ever seen in a lifetime of operagoing. But the singing was first rate.

Weimar is still a small town of Thuringa, but it offers quite a variety of cultural aspects. Take a day of sunshine and enjoy the Parks, the Museums, the Churches and the Bauhaus, but this places is a must!

A concert hall with a (political) history, where music is written with a capital M. This time we enjoyed Mozart's "Magic Flute" in a very entertaining form, excellently accompanied by the Staatskapelle Weimar.

Wonderfully situated in the central square of the town this impressive building is just the right place for theatrical performances both on the stage and, for orators/politicians, from the balcony.

Historical place with German history from the National convent for the 1st constitution to the best German theater of Goethe & Schiller. Traditional style of the building for theater, symphony and opera. Very good artists and directors.
