It is the most famous point of city center and good for photo shooting and nice place to watch a classic story theater there. During Christmas market they make a ice skating field and you can enjoy beside Goethe and Schiller :)

The theatre itself is closed now for renovations. But you can gaze on the outside, where the Weimar Republic was announced. And go in the lobby. A very, very historic place, with just a sense of place.

There're way more beautiful opera houses in Germany, but in this opera house you'd find more great works by Goethe and Schiller.

Very interesting small size opera house and the seat of Staatskapelle Weimar. I went to see Die Zauberflote and it was very good production with great music played by the very orchestra and sang and performed by very talented (also as actors) singers. Because it's small in size there is avery close contact with the musicians and the scenography is... More

A great company and a great theatre. But be careful what you go to hear - some of their productions are "German director-dictatorship" gone mad. We saw a production of Verdi's I Masnadieri which is genuinely the worst production I have ever seen in a lifetime of operagoing. But the singing was first rate.

We went to see a Verdi opera. It was awesome, fantastic stage performance with great links to our time. The place, the atmosphere, the music, the actors, we all loved it.

Weimar is still a small town of Thuringa, but it offers quite a variety of cultural aspects. Take a day of sunshine and enjoy the Parks, the Museums, the Churches and the Bauhaus, but this places is a must!

A concert hall with a (political) history, where music is written with a capital M. This time we enjoyed Mozart's "Magic Flute" in a very entertaining form, excellently accompanied by the Staatskapelle Weimar.

On July 17 we took a whirlwind tour of Weimar since we had only one day here on our 10-drivng tour of Germany. We saw the Goethe Garden House, the Goethe National Museum, and the Park on the Ilm. We even stopped by the City Museum. On the way back we couldn't forget to pay a visit to the Goethe-Schiller... More
