    Disappointed
If you’ve seen the Alcazar in Sevilla, you might wanna miss this one! It was very disappointing compared to the one in Sevilla, you only visit like 3 rooms inside the Alcazar everything else was cordoned off. The Gardens were very pretty and nice, however nothing compares to the gardens in Sevilla. If you haven’t been to the one in Sevilla, go ahead and visit this!

    Lovely gardens!
The gardens were our favorite. We are a family with 2 children (8,11) who both liked frolicking in the garden. The tower is also fun to climb and look out over the town. The inside of the building is a bit boring, but is good for the gardens.

    Beautiful gardens
The gardens here are amazing! I stayed here longer than I should have. There was a horse show going on when I was there so was able to watch it too. Wish there were more flowers but I totally get it - it was fall. Will come back on springtime probably. The first part with ruins is so cool. Didn’t expect that. Kinda feels like I’m in Pompeii or somewhere similar. Definitely a must-see

    Enthralling visit
It was a tremendous visit to such an historic and enthralling bastion fortress. A primary residence of Ferdinand and Isabella it was established on a site that had antecedent defensive fortifications. Some great towers plus turrets can be seen. A fabulous selection of mosaics are present including those depicting Eros y Psique, Medusa and Polifemo y Galatea. Delightful gardens with charming water features containing fish and luscious flora are further splendid highlights.

    Wonderful
This place was huge and we easily spent over 2 hrs here. Beautiful even in the winter time that I can't imagine in the summer. The gardens are beautiful and the alcazar as well. It was one of the more busier places we visited during our trip. Must get tickets in advance. And it was cheap too.

    Renaissance simple castle
After visiting the Alcaza rin Sevilla and the Alhambra in Granada, this palace looks like an unfinished place!. The mosaics room was beautiful, but not much else is demonstrative of the kings life here. The gardens are beautiful and a smaller version of the Generalife.

    Just do the Gardens
Agreed with previous reviewer, no need to buy ticket in advance. If you are doing tower in Mezquita, forget about the tower here. The main draw here is the gardens. The castle itself has nothing much apart for the mosaics. But the gardens more than make up for it. Beautifully laid out with lots of photo opportunities and some benches to rest and take it all in.

    Beautiful gardens
Very historic and enjoyable, but not as impressive as other alcazars in Spain. We enjoyed our visit and the gardens and mosaic rooms were a major highlight. We did not buy tickets ahead and waited in line for about 20 minutes, but were able to buy tickets and enter right away. There was a long line to get up into the towers, but it moved fairly quickly.

    Just ok
Wasn’t impressed with this site. Also went to the mezquita which was SO beautiful. There isn’t much to see here, and no signage to tell you what you are looking at. If you are already in cordoba it does fill the time but if you are pressed for time skip it.

    Great gardens
A great place to visit - I think the entrance fee was 4.90 EUR per person which was great value. Beautiful gardens, historic and well-preserved buildings. On the downside there is not a lot to see inside the buildings but there are some great views

Please don't expect the Alhambra or Seville's Alcazar...this is smaller, but the gardens are beautiful, the ponds well architected, and there are flowers even in winter. It's well worth the 5 Euro charge, and you can climb the tower for a great view of the city.

Very nice gardens but our visit was a little rushed due to the place closing at 2:30pm on a Sunday afternoon.....really??? Seems very odd to close so early, particularly at a weekend when there were a lot of visitors around. Very narrow steep stairs to access battlements / towers - which were two way, so people were trying to pass each other on the stairs, not enough space and quite dangerous for less mobile visitors.

The last reviewer in February 2022 has it spot on. To get tickets you have to book appointments on line using a website created before smart phones were invented and find out your passport details are incorrect and your phone number is too long. You then also learn that you still have to queue to pay before you can get in.

The building has no information on display in any other language than Spanish and you are through and in the gardens before you can blink.

Gardens though are really nice and worth a visit.

Overall perhaps not so high on the list of things you must do in Cordoba.

It took us two attempts to book a time slot at the gardens when we visited in February. We found very little info. online so we went along and had to scan a QR code and fill out a form online. This only books you a specific time slot, you then have too pay later when you arrive. Many people were also having problems with their forms (it is a badly designed form, especially on a phone) but the staff were angrily dismissing everyone and refused to assist. (When we mentioned this to our hotel they said that it is a well-known problem and that several hoteliers have told them about it, but they refuse to help, so it isn't only us).

Here's how you get in - fill out the form provided by the QR code on the sign by the entrance to book a time slot, but be careful with the phone number because it will only accept numbers of 9 digits (in the UK there are 11 usually). We just entered the last nine. When you have done this you must go to the gate at the time you chose and pay to enter, noting that they ONLY take credit / debit cards and not cash, and if you are slightly late they will not let you enter.

When we did finally manage to get inside it was quite underwhelming. Despite the obvious drought the flower beds, planted with a weird choice of bedding plants, were being flooded with epic quantities of water which was spilling out everywhere. The locations of signs / bins / power outlets around the gardens meant that every one of the lovely vistas was spoiled on way or another.

The ancient layout of the garden, and the bones of it, are superb, but it clearly seemed like it was now being maintained by a council who knew nothing about gardening and couldn't really care any less about visitors either.

Visited specifically for the naturaleza encendida light show in the Alcazar’s gardens. We had the 6-7 time slot which started as dusk and ended dark. The gardens themselves are stunning as is the Alcázar building, and the light show was really impressive. Something different to visit and thoroughly enjoyed. Would definitely recommend booking the premium ticket as this allows skipping the queue almost entirely! Family had also visited the Alcázar during day time and highly recommended a visit to the entire grounds.

The attraction itself was nice, especially the garden. However, I deduct some points for organisation. We were there on the evening of 14.06, Monday, and saw in front of it the information with the opening hours indicating that it is open till the evening. However, on the next day when we tried to visit in the afternoon, it was closed. It turned out the opening hours were reduced as of 15.06, and nobody thought to put up updated info before that day. Also, one needs to register on a Spanish-only website before buying the tickets. Not really handy for foreign tourists.

We also note that until mid-June the opening hours were longer, and were actully REDUCED during high tourist season. Seriously, who does that?

At least it is nice to see that Spain is so well off now that it does not need tourists.

You have to have timed tickets to see this sight. We booked ours in advance but due to an issue with the trains arrived in the city 15 min into our booked time. We were not allowed and were told the absurdity that you can come in up to 30 min early but not a minute late. We only had one day in the city and the only remaining time slot was 1 hour before closing. I had to pay double for entry and only got to be inside for 45 minutes once you got through the security and check-in line. Utter rubbish staffing and very disappointed with the site overall. I'm sure it's lovely when you're not being charged double for a few fleeting moments.

I've spent days trying to find how to book the visit to the Alcazar de los Reyes Cristianos. I just wanted to book the straight entry without a guided tour. The website is very very frustrating. I've sent several emails to local public offices, none of which have replied. The phone number is not being answered either. If anyone knows the link to the form/page to book an entry slot could you please let me have it. The only guided tours seem to be at 10 or 13.00 neither of which I can do.

You ask a guy if this is a line for tickets. He says yes. Then you queue up, wait an hour just to reach end of the line ending nowhere. Then you are redirected to another line, learning that you need to go to website and buy “an appointment to buy ticket”. But these are already gone, next one coming up in couple hours. Half queue curses the staff because they waited for over na hour for nothing. Nobody event attempts speaking English, there is also some random sign there, all in Spanish. The website to buy the “appointment” is just in Spanish. It does not accept foreign phone numbers, so you need to write 12345678 there just to pass the initial page. Also, the page is completely broken on mobile devices.
I’ve never seen such mess before in my life and I come from Eastern Europe.

The interesting part of the interior of the building was the many excellent mosaics discovered and recovered from the Plaza Corredera. Externally despite it being September and us not expecting the gardens to be in full flower, they were in fact really colourful and well kept with the smaller fountains operating. Truly picturesque and with not too many visitors quite relaxing.
Less visitors due to Covid, which causes the complex reservation process to seemingly be used. Use a QR code or website to log your personal details and see what time a reservation is possible for. But you don't buy a ticket. You save the email confirmation and attachment, turn up at the appointed time and then pay for a ticket. By credit card only, which it doesn’t mention in the booking process !
