Created by Real Order in 1844, Museum of Fine Arts, Cordoba went over through differnt city buildings until 1862. On that date Rafael Romero Barros came to work like curator-restorator and the Museum finally established in it actual place, the disentailed Hospital of Charity at Plaza of Potro. This building was built in late XVth century, being alterated in XVIth and XVIIIth centuries. The last alteration was in XXth century, under the direction of Enrique Romero de Torres, son and successor of Romero Barros. From 1984, Junta de Andalucia, the regional goverment, manage the Museum of Fine Arts. From that time, the Museum shows a selection of masterworks from its collection. Through its rooms is represented the Cordobesian Art from XVth to XXI centuries, with canvas, sculptures and mural. The room I shows temporary exhibitions with drawings and prints of Museum collection.

Enjoyed some of the art pieces and the museum provided a breath of cool air from the midday sun. Was free entry, so can't complain re: the pricing, although would be less inclined to enter if it was more than a couple euros.

I was the only visitor at 14.00 hours and even though I enjoy art galleries this one I could have skipped easily. I was followed around by the security staff and was hard pressed not to inform they had no chance of anyone stealing any...More

This museum is free to EU passport holders and for some reason was free to me. The building is old and interesting and worth a visit. There is a charming courtyard shared with this place and the Torres Museum. The building was not air conditioned...More

Some good art work done by the brothers of Julio Romero De Torres, whose museum adjoins this. Paintings on a grand scale, sculpture and some not so good mod art. Worth a visit.

It's a very small museum - I did not find it interesting at all. It was certainly not worth a detour we made to visit it.

This is a very small museum, but with some nice interesting sculptures an oils to enjoy. Located within a patio you might miss it, but once inside your eyes and soul want to see more.

The museum has a nice collection of painting, centered on local artists. The most interesting works are from Spanish Golden Age. Few Great Masters, as most of the works are from Cordobese artists, not well known to the general public.

There are 6 rooms of art, but 2 and 3 were closed when we visited, not sure if this is temporary or permanent. The displays are small (quantity, not size of paintings as some were very big), but I didn't like much of what I...More
