Nice beach with costly beach chairs to rent.
The sea is beautiful and there is a nice instagramable sign which mataches the color of the sand. It costs 14 ritos to rent a palapa and two beach chairs. Lots of vendors selling massages and mojitos, etc.

    Malagueta gone downhill
What has happened to quality, good food, good service, kind welcome and nice cozy SPANISH place Malagueta used to be? It's definitely gone downhill these last 5 years! Food and service is so touristy! Bland food, snooty cold service, annoying servers for tips! When you go into a restaurant and they speak english before spanish, that says it all!

    Busy and live beach area
I visited the beach in February and out of the season, however there were still a lot of people. A few were at the sea as too cold, but a lot were just chilling and relaxing. There were a few restaurants open. Clean and live area with tourist and local people.

    All changed..
No sunbeds or umbrellas on Malagueta beach, can’t work out what’s happened to them? No showers working in the beach. Beach tapas bar no longer there. Nice local cafe closed. I can’t work out if it’s an anti-tourist or lack of funding thing?

    Long and winding
The beach stretches from one bay to another quite a long way with several restaurants built on sand. The water is not ideal for swimming, it is murky as the port is just beside it and waves may be high. The constantly changing scenery makes it popular for biking, running and walking, there are blue benches to rest on.

    Its an OK beach
Not the best beach in Spain. If thats what you require, maybe Malaga is not for you. Sand is big grain, rocks, and very cold water. But very lively beach with young and old people. Felt safe to leave my stuff while in the water.

One of our favourite beaches we like to go to. Even in the low season, you can still sit in the sun and have a nice day. We had some nice beach days in January, with temperatures at 20 degrees Celsius.

I’d recommend the small beach chair rental, at the beginning of the Paseo Marítimo, opposite the Burger King and Meventos Antionio Martin. A very friendly fellow runs it. During low season, you can rent two chairs and an umbrella for a discount and pay €10. There is a relatively clean public toilet next to it.

We choose to stay out to by this beach rather than in the city as it is so relaxed and beautiful. The beach is very well kept with lots of facilities in terms of toilets, showers and exercise equipment if needed.

You can rent sun loungers at €14 a day for two with a parasol if required. The locals just take a towel and shelter under the palm tree which is a great idea.

We did some excellent walks along the beach and also dined at the fish restaurants along its edge.

You can find quieter parts further out and it really is a lovely beach.

Do not book Hermosa Beach Apartments, noise from all sides & above, had to ask for utensils & a saucepan, nothing in kitchen , one wine glass, nothing to cut a vegetable or fruit with , a total ripoff !
Mould on bedroom walls and damp stains
Nowhere to hang a towel or even a loo roll in shower room, as cosy as a rat hole one can get , Airbnb will get full report & complaint, owner doesn’t reply at all despite numerous emails , obviously don’t care care a bit for clients, typical of many places in Malaga now, take your money under lies & false pretences & totally misleading advertising, one can hear every loo flush, people talking through wall and can’t begin to say how bad noise was above, like chairs dragging over the floor above , night And day, no soundproofing anywhere !
Disgusting on every count !

This time we didn`t stop in Malaga like 3 years ago, but were in transit for only 6 hours. But we couldn't give up the pleasure of swimming on La Malagueta. I remember the first time I was ready to go to this beach just for the sake of the beautiful name that the beach got from the name of the quarter in which it is located. But that's certainly not the point. The beach is quite large, 1, 2 kilometers long and 50 meters wide. With a sufficiently developed infrastructure: shower, volleyball courts, umbrellas. Many people don`t like that this is a city beach with houses facing it. But this is a common thing. These are the beaches in Valencia, Barcelona, Salou, Tarragona. On the contrary, there is no feeling of a tourist reservation like in some Hurghada. This time it was already in the evening and there were few people on the beach. But that didn't make La Malagueta any worse...

Given that this is a large city beach, it has minimal beach services and with sunbeds now at the end of their career. Showers not usable (we were told due to water shortage).
The sandy seabed does not provide sea colors worthy of a photograph.
The city certainly has other attractions.

It is a great place to spend the day under the sun, to enjoy a drink and eat a good seafood meal.

It’s close to the city and the historic center.
A good choice if you have a limited time to spend in Malaga.

There are public beaches or you can rent A sun bed for 7 euros.

After a terrible experience in Malagueta, be careful of holiday rental scammers such as Hermosa Beach properties. The accommodation was dangerously dirty, unsanitary, old, rusty kitchen items and noisy neighbours. Disgusting and over-priced. Be careful if you are looking for a clean, safe, sanitary accommodation near the beach.

More fame than anything... Sand is a mixture with earth, it's not real sand... It's an urban artificial beach... they don't keep it clean, full of bottles, cans, butts, baskets overflowing with trash, water with dirt... but it's the people who don't take care of it either... and I don't see the city council doing anything.
A shame... might be better... Since the best it has are the views into the distance, and not the beach itself

Filthy disgusting beach. Charged 18 Euro for 2 dirty beds. Beach is covered in plastic & cigarette buds.
Water is full of sanitary products and oil (which I can only assume is leaking from boats in the nearby marina. Water is turned off on the beach so you cannot shower the oil off your feet (or if you are unlucky enough your body) if you have went in, in blissful ignorance.
Understood why no one was in the water on such a hot day, found out t too our horror as couldn’t get the black oil off our feet.
The beach is a serious health hazard and god love anyone who goes with a child.

Young guys were talking stuff out of the water with buckets and taking pictures of it before lobbing it in the bin.
What a disappointment.
Can only imagine the water is turned off on the beach to avoid the dry sand being turned black by the oil on peoples body.

If that isn’t enough, we stayed for an hour and in that hour we maybe had 20 visits from people selling blankets, beer, coke & cocktails.
The same people coming by every few minutes

Malaga is beautiful, this beach is not.

Avoid at all costs.

This kilometer-long beach got its name from the area where it is located. This is a good city beach with its inherent disadvantages and advantages. The main advantage that attracts people here is the location. This makes it convenient for both urban residents and tourists living in the center. There is a shower, toilet, volleyball. Cafe across the street. La Malagueta is wide enough (40 meters) to accommodate a large number of visitors. Of course, there is no beach romance here. For this you need to go to Fuengirola or Marbella. But this is a different kind of money...
