Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There’s been a station here since 1863 and this modern replacement was completed in 2007. As well as suburban lines (including connection to the airport 9km away), you can connect via the high speed service to Madrid, Córdoba and Barcelona. The bus station is next door and it’s only a short walk to the main city area and port. Well maintained toilet facilities (70c fee) are adjacent the ticket office entrance. Station interior also supports the Viala shopping mall. Noticed airport style bag search/scanning at departure gates - good idea.

I have to open by saying that the station is very good, the thing that annoyed us was the ticket office and the difficulty getting tickets. It took us over an hour to get 2 tickets from Malaga to Cordoba. Of the 3 ticket machines only 1 was working and even then with all the information to hand it took 10 minutes at the machine to get a ticket. If you are traveling immediately, why do they need your passport number (all passengers) and telephone numbers before they will issue the tickets. Great train service pity about the ticket offices. If you are travelling into Malaga to catch a connecting train allow at least 2 hours at the station to get your tickets.

The service and the smiles here make a huge difference to a journey.
A wonderful, kind and considerate man at the ticket desk facing hundreds of people a day I imagine, greets you with a warm welcome and willingness to help. Service like this must always be applauded. Not forgetting the security staff, the same warm greeting and personal experience despite doing this hundreds of times a day. We forget sometimes and focus on the not great experiences but more emphasis on the good people will make the world a better place. Thank you for making a long and difficult journey so much more pleasurable.

This is one of the nicest train stations I have used in all of europe. There is a shopping mall inside including a regular size grocery store. The station has a modern look and is clean. It is also not very far from the central tourist area. I took the AVE high speed train from here to Madrid which left promptly on time.

After arriving at Malaga airport we had some time to kill here before catching our train to Seville. Lovely shops, cafes and restaurants in a pleasant environment. We had a snack lunch at one of the cafes where there was plenty of choice and it was very tasty. Also very clean toilets.

Incredible María Zambrano train station, which includes the large Vialia shopping center with a hotel included, you can travel to any point in Spain from this train station and it is the gateway to tourism on the Costa del Sol, Marbella, Puerto Banús, Estepona, San Pedro de Alcántara, also has a taxi station, picked up by transfer companies such as taximarbellamalaga. Com, and a large bus station 100 meters away.

This modern station was opened in 2007 on the site of the 1863 station.
It is served by the high-speed trains to Madrid and Barcelona as well as the Cercanias commuter trains to the Airport and Fuengirola, and also as the terminus for the Malaga Metro system.

Easy to manage train station. Signage is very clear and no confusion about where to go.
I also used the luggage storage, which worked well and was not expensive (€3,10 for a locker that could hold two hand luggage trolleys).
There are lots of shops as well and places to get food, although mostly fast food.
The bus station is next door and also signed inside the train station.

Probably the worst experience travelling I had in years.
Upon arrival to the station, Renfe has a policy that for certain train tickets you must buy the ticket 30 min prior departure. I was not aware of that so it was too late for me to get that train. The next train was fully booked so I had to wait for the following one, 4 hours in total.
Funniest thing is there was not AC anywhere in the station and this was an incredible humid summer day.
Finally getting in the train, expecting to have a pleasant trip back home after I have been travelling and waiting for over 13 hours, the car where my seat is REEKS as WC!! ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING SMELL!
I stopped one of the workers to ask if there is something they could do and he literally carry on walking and said there is nothing to do about this.
I called him out as it is incredibly disrespectful a customer is talking to you and you just carry on walking but he did not really care about the whole situation whatsoever and just said I should open a claim.
I should also say that all this situation is happening after I paid a first class ticket.
Absolutely outrageous. RENFE is absolutely disgusting as a company, they do not care about their clients as they do not care about AC or how they treat us.

Arrived at the station at 8.00am for an 8.55 train to Madrid. Station is well laid out, a few shops open and somewhere to get a drink and something to eat. However, looking for a toilet in the main hall, we found then all locked. Apparently they dont open until 9.00 am !! The only one available was downstairs in the car parking area. In the gents, ALL the urinals were out of order, and the stalls were absolutely disgusting. The floors were soaked, bits of toilet paper all over the floor, and the bowls covered in excrement. An absolute disgrace, the management company and cleaners should be sacked. What sort of impression of our beautiful city does this give to travellers arriving here. Compared to the airport, it is like a Third World country.
