About
The 800-square-meter Museum of Wine Malaga houses the main collection of more than 400 pieces of lithography and antique pieces of extraordinary quality, categorized by themes: bottle labels, advertising posters of wine and raisins, great barrel labels, hand painted sketches, coverages and wooden raisin boxes and lithographic stones; a collection that makes the visitor travel through the ancient traditions of the Malacitans and their cellars, during the 19th and 20th century. Furthermore, the Museum provides a redesigned space for educational outreach that highlights the History, the geography of the wine and the vines by providing details of the protected areas of wine production of our province and the manufacturing, classification and ageing of the sweet natural and naturally sweet wines with the Appellation of Origin Malaga and the white, rose and red wines with A.O. Sierras de Malaga.

Lovely little museum covering the advertising, development, and production of Malaga wines. All text is in Spanish but a free app allowed us to listen to the English translation at each point in the museum. Finished off with a brilliant tasting of 2 Malaga wines, included in the ticket (which was very affordable!). We added on a third tasting for a very small additional cost. Highly recommended if you’re interested in wine and learning about Malaga wines in particular. Took us roughly an hour and that included listening to the full translations. The building is clean, modern and spacious, and staff are friendly. Lovely little gift shop too.

This is quite a good experience if you’re interested in wine and have an hour or so to spare. However as others have mentioned when you arrive you need to download the app for the commentary as none of the written information is in English.
The app took a while to download and the person talking has an extremely heavy Spanish accent. Once you get going it is interesting but found that we needed to go around twice so that we could be sure we matched the commentary to what we were looking at.
It is nice at the end that you get 2 generous testers of different wines. So one the whole if you like wine it is worth the€5 entrance fee

The Wine Museum of Malaga is a place where you can understand the wines of Malaga. It is located in the Palacio de las Biedmas, an 18th century building that has been completely remodeled in the interior. There is a guided visit every half hour from the museum's opening time, and this is given by multilingual guides, who are very friendly and informative.
The ground floor has more than 400 lithographs of posters and labels from the late 19th century to the early 20th century, some of which are really works of art and very beautiful. There are also lithographs that were used on raisin boxes. The first floor has a presentation about the history of wine in Malaga. The Phoenicians started the wine industry in Malaga about 3000 years ago when they landed in Malaga. After them came the Greeks, Romans, and Moors. To circumvent their law of avoiding alcohol, the Moors said the wine was going to be used for medicinal purposes. In the 18th century the wines of Malaga started winning prizes in Europe and became the favorite of the czars of Russia.
There is an explanation of how wine is grown in the five regions of Malaga. There are several different grapes that are now used and these are explained. The museum also shows several old wine presses and explains the current process of aging the wines and achieving a uniformity in the wine. After the guided tour there is a wine tasting of two wines, one a dry wine and the other a sweet wine.

Small but cosy museum that teaches you about the regional wines. It's not very spectacular, but if you're interested in wine, it might be a nice stop. You can download an audio guide on your phone for free for extra information when looking at the exhibits. You won't spend much time there, and it's really cheap (€5 entrance, which includes two wine tastings), so why not give it a chance?

Interesting smallish exhibition about the wines of Malaga. If you’re Spanish is limited you’ll need to install the audio guide app & download the files for this ‘museum’. Contrary to some older reviews there is free Wi-Fi inside so that should not be a problem if you don’t have data. The English is, as others have noted, quite heavily accented but with a little practice your ear tunes in. The tasting afterwards is included in the entrance fee and was relaxed and fun.

Well worthy a visit and excellent value. It only cost €3 each as seniors and that includes tasting of two wines at the end! Would certainly cost at least twice that in the UK. You download an app when you arrive which lets you listen to the audio commentary in your language of choice. The ground floor is mainly about the wine labels over the centuries and the upper floor goes into the history of the wine industry in Malaga. There’s a lift but not sure if it’s big enough for a wheelchair. Very clean toilets on the top floor. Very glad we visited.

Surprisingly interesting. Gives the history of Malaga wines and raisins, mainly in pictorial form, but with some winemakers equipment on show.
As a Spanish speaker I had no problem with the descriptions, although I did have to translate for my wife. If you don't speak Spanish the audio description is free to download.
At the end you're invited to taste 2 Malaga wines each which were very good.
As "seniors" we qualified for discounted admission of just €3 each which was an absolute bargain!

This is a small museum but a very well curated one. the displays give a very good idea of wine making in general, and more specifically in Andalusia. At the end there is also the added bonus of wine tasting, and you can buy a variety of wines as well. It is about 10 minutes' walk from the city centre, but it is definitely worth the visit!

Some interesting facts about the history and making of wine and some historical wine bottles. We were left to ourselves to find our way about but joined a tour group with a Spanish speaking guide who appeared not to be interested. I speak a little Spanish and the commentary was very brief and to the point with little only a prepared script. Some of the people in the group were english speakers and it went over their heads. The same man spoke good english when he collected our money so he could have made a little effort during the tour. The tour took about half hour.
The wine tasting was a glass of Malaga Dulce, nice enough but could be bought in any bar for about €1.
Tours in english are only available if booked in advance.
Over all a very poor show.

Went to see this museum yesterday, after reading the reviews. We were told it was free today. Saw boards with wine labels and upstairs info in Spanish on the walls, various wooden boards with English, headphone signs but not available. Downstairs there was no tastings available, only a shop. Disappointed.
