Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Plaza de la Marina is one of the main squares in the old center of Malaga. Beautifully located between two of the most important avenues of Malaga, Alameda Principal and Paseo del Parque. It was constructed at the end of the 19th century when land was drained from the sea. It is a lively square with a large round fountain. Many tourist visit this square because the Malaga tourist office is located here. Under the square is a large underground parking, which is very convenient if you would like to visit the center. Many beautiful buildings are located at the square, built mid 20th century. One of them is the headquarters of Unicaja Bank. At the square stands the sculpture of El Cenachero, a fisherman carrying two baskets selling fish. The square is a good starting point for a walk through Malaga Park.

The Plaza de la Marina is where the tourist office is located, so there are always many people around the plaza, going to or leaving this office, where they are helped get maps and brochures of sights around the city. The Plaza is also used for many temporary exhibitions of art, food fairs, medieval fairs, and other such things. It is really the center of the city. There is a fountain that is quite beautiful when it is working.

I love this spot. Always interesting things happening in this square. We enjoyed the Extra Virgin Olive Oil Tasting from Jaén. With some lovely Latin food. The chef on the scene was very helpful in making me a tasty taco with guacamole, Pico De Gallo, salad and Asparagus. The concert was absolutely mind blowing. I even got up and had a dance. Thank you Almoraima Fusión, you are very talented. Also big thank you the people that always make these events happen. Gracias.

Lovely shaded walk way and gardens, loads of shops, cafes and restaurants, took the land train and went right around to see a huge cruise liner docked up and viewed the beach. There was a Sunday market and all the locals were promenading in their best, also a Ferrari show, super place to go!

Lovely square, packed full of history. Not much else to say, but worth a walk through, try and find the shade though, as very hot when sunny.

.
It's a large square with fountains, planters overflowing with flowers all year round, horse carriages for hire (rather sad really), the Tourist Office to one side, and really near other lovely places to stroll.
In a hop and a skip you can get to the Alameda Central, to the Muelle Dos with its Palmeral de las Sorpresas, to the Paseo del Parque and the main Park as well as the Jardines de Pedro Luis Alonso.
Everything is to hand, and there are some extremely handsome buildings to admire too. Don't ask me what they are, I'm afraid that I haven't the foggiest!
But I do know what that statue is . . .
:-)
.It's El Cenachero, and merits a review all of its own . . .

Beautiful park with plants from different places like Hawaii, Madagascar, South-East Asia, Oceania, etc. Peaceful and lovely. Parrots live there and eats dates from the date palms.

With the ocean & marina on one side & the start of the old town & the Alcazaba on the other, this straight, long park area is a delight. This is kinda a botanical garden offering a wide range of plants all clearly marked. Overhead the parakeets rule the roost. On the ground the locals come to sit and pass the time of day. You'll more likely pass though it on your way to somewhere else - but it is worth the pass through

This area has been completely renovated since I was last in Malaga, and it was a lovely place to walk. That was until I was pick pocketed by gypsies, who stole 70 euros. Don't let that stop you from going there, just remember you are in a city, and be more careful than I was!

This Plaza is one of the main squares in the centre of old Malaga, surrounded by huge cycas trees that give much-needed shade in the very hot summers. Likewise, the impressive fountain in the middle of the square, which can provide a much-needed refreshing spray if there is a bit of breeze as you pass by the fountain. We were there on a Good Friday and the place was very quiet indeed - usually there are exhibitions and flamenco dancing at the Feria de Málaga.
The Plaza is located between two of the biggest avenues in Malaga, Alameda Principal and Paseo del Parque, and there can be a lot of traffic noise. The sculpture of El Cenachero, a fisherman carrying two baskets selling fish is located at the square, and there are some fine mid-20th century buildings such as the headquarters of Unicaja Bank. This is a meeting place for young people but very quiet last Easter.

The distance is 3.3 km. When there are cruise ships there is a bus that brings them to the Plaza de la Marina for a nominal fee.

We are arriving on Thursday 2 April and planning on getting the bus from the airport. Do you know the nearest bus stop to this hotel?
