Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had an excellent day with Juan. He’s very knowledgeable about his city. We loved his explanations specially regarding Malaga’s architecture and the city’s diver flora. We took the three hour tour which was perfect. We would never have noticed well nor understood the city’s many details without his guidance. His English is very good as well.

Juan was our guide and he gave us an awesome tour of Malaga! He knew so much about Malaga and it’s history! Juan was a wealth of information and the virtual reality was such an added bonus! Alcazaba was so cool and Juan brought it too life! The tour was supposed to last for 3 hours and But it actually lasted for 3:30 hours! It was so worth the time and money and I highly recommend the tour and our guide, Juan!!!

Thank you so much for your words! As you could also feel, I also enjoyed guiding you through Malaga. I have a passion for my city and for explaining it as I would love if I was a tourist, so I think you found out all this!

Our guide Juan was patient, well informed, and well prepared. Showed us the most important historical sights in the city - even showing us the ancient sights using virtual reality glasses.

Thank you very much for taking your time in reviewing us. I'm glad we have made your visit to Malaga more enjoyable. Our goal is showing the best of Malaga in a professional way, hence the virtual reality glasses. We are the only ones in Malaga to offer that technology, so we're happy you appreciated that!

Our 3 hour walking tour was fantastic and Juan is an excellent guide. Not only is Malaga a beautiful city, the walk through history, including the Alcazaba Fortress was amazing. Juan excels at sharing the history of this ancient port city in an informative and meaningful way. His use of Virtual Reality goggles to compare the history of certain sites to the way they look today was an unexpected treat. I highly recommend this tour. Don’t miss it.

Our guide was outstanding and shared the rich history of Malaga with us as we walked around the city. The landfill along the waterfront was a surprise to us and the old water front showed the importance of the port to Malaga historically and today. The salted fish was an interesting delicacy I have never seen before. The guided tour of the Alcázar was well worthwhile as we not only skipped the queue but went up into the Alcázar by an elevator few people seemed to know about. The botanical gardens were pretty and we were told about the bitter orange trees throughout the city planted by the moors to clean their metal. A must do in Malaga .

I was in March with my partner and we had a lovely time in Malaga, mostly thanks to Voila Malaga. We had the all day long experience and I couldn’t be more satisfied. Juan Diego was truly a professional as he had knowledge in many fields. He even changad the tour as I was interested in one particular museum and he took us there! A great way to spend the day in Malaga.

I thought I knew a lot about the Spanish Civil War, having taken a class on its influence in art, and knowing people in the US and Mexico whose families suffered. But walking the hills of Malaga with Juan Diego as he conveyed the words of those who lived it and shared photos of the times - in our not so distant past - took me to a new level of understanding and compassion. His knowledge of the topic is deep and carefully researched but this tour is no lecture. To me it was more like walking the three acts of a tragic opera in which you know the disastrous ending but are going to have so live each scene so that the story sinks into you and its ending becomes more deeply felt. I’m grateful I had this experience with Juan Diego on my second day in Andalucía, because in the weeks since I have found few people willing to say anything except that it’s still too raw. I believe they would be grateful that Juan Diego is relaying the story of the story of their suffering in such a profound and compassionate way. If he gives a sequel, I’ll be the first to sign up. BTW, I signed up for the tour in Spanish but Juan Diego was happy to jump into English whenever my Spanish faltered.

If in Málaga do not miss this small but fantastic museum. Lots of great art but of course limited by the fact that this is a one-artist-only museum. Only downside is the audio-units people is carrying. Very loud annoying noise to the rest of us; like a bee swarm in your ears.

Sorry but you have reviewed the museum itself, not us, Voila Malaga, where we offer private small tours, including the Birthplace museum, and we don't use any audio-units. If you'd be so kind, please erase this review and leave it to the actual museum. Best regards

Juan was an excellent tour guide, very informative, friendly and a terrific guide for our first full day in Malaga. We hit the main spots in the old town section and spent a good deal of time walking through Alcazaba, learning the history of the various conquerors of Malaga. This is the kind of tour that a local person can do, dropping interesting tidbits here and there. What made it even more interesting is that Juan is a architect in his professional life; as a result, he was vastly knowledgeable about the mixture of various styles of buildings we were seeing. What a great introduction to this beautiful city. I would highly recommend Juan as a tour guide for your visit to Malaga.

Thanks for taking time for reviewing us! I am glad you enjoyed Malaga with us. As I tourist, I love to discover things but not everything is on the internet or books. A private tour with local background is what we really like and that is what we offer. I'm happy we have contributed to make your visit to Malaga so enriching!

Juan was an awesome tour guide. Very personable. Since the group was small we had the ability to ask questions without having to hurry up through the tour. He also had VR so we could see how Malaga looked centuries ago. We learned a lot and saw many beautiful places. I would recommend this tour. If you can get Juan as a tour guide, do it 😀
