Just when you thought a 55-year-old newbie like me would be settling for a quiet life, I decided to twist the throttle of adventure with Torotrail/Toroadventure in Malaga, Spain! 🏍️💨 Having only gotten my Mod 2 in November 2022, I was as green as they come in the motorcycling world. But hey, who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?

October 2023 was when I first dipped my toes into the motorbike touring world with a 4-day On/Off Road trip. Aim? To not embarrass myself too much and maybe learn a thing or two. The trip was nothing short of superb, thanks to Lyndon, the boss, who seemed to believe more in my biking skills than I did. We rode fully specced GS1250s through Spain's hidden tracks and twisty roads. Imagine this: a mix of off-road adventures getting us to spots I bet even Google Maps doesn't know about, paired with on-road experiences that made me feel like a MotoGP rider in training.

The accommodation, from Mountain retreats to central hotels and great food options every evening where we all dined together.

Fast forward to February 2023, armed with slightly more confidence and a burning desire to improve, I signed up for another stint. This time with 2 days on Enduro bikes (because someone suggested it and I obviously thought, "Why not?"), a rest day (much needed for my aging bones), and another 2 days on the GS1250s.

On arrival, I was met by a motley crew of riders, ranging from their 20s to the venerable Ken in his 70s (legend, I tell you!). I embarked on what can only be described as a crash course (pun intended) in Enduro riding. Not a natural, but not a quitter either, I managed to not entirely embarrass myself, thanks to Martin and Lyndon's infinite patience and tips. We covered some great trails and a huge range of different levels of ascents and descents, all rides, obstacles, tunnels, river beds, and experiences that I would never have tried without this group. If at any time I was out of my comfort zone, I was always able to say, and alternatives were found without judgment. Some bits I tried after watching the other guys made me aware of what these bikes are capable of and what can be achieved on them. The Spanish landscape lends itself to Enduro, and the amount of trails out in Spain seems endless.

The rest day was a godsend, giving me time to recuperate and visit friends in Spain.

Then came the GS1300 - a beast that initially had me questioning all my life choices until I realized I was in Dynamic mode. Switched to Road mode, and suddenly, the skies cleared, and all was right with the world again. Still, my heart remains with the GS1250A (my wife is very happy).

Finished the trip with more off-road on shenanigans on the GS1250s, more invaluable tips, and, most importantly, a massive smile plastered on my face. I'm already plotting my return for a "sneaky weekend" and eyeing up the Big Morocco trips.

Big shoutout to the whole Torotrail crew and my fellow riders for the memories and the first taste of real Enduro experience. Now, the pressing question remains: Where in the UK can I snag a cheap Enduro bike, find a decent place to ride it, and, crucially, figure out a hiding spot from my missus? 🤣

Having just returned from my first trip to Toro Trail I can honestly say this was simply the best four day holiday I have ever had. I was a little anxious as I have only been riding off-road for three years and some of our group were very experienced.
From the moment Lyndon and Mel met us at the airport they just seemed to anticipate our every need, it is obvious that they have been doing this for a while.
The accommodation looks like it was built for the job, spotlessly clean, everything we needed, plenty of space so I felt comfortable and relaxed instantly.
There is good choice on offer for breakfast so everyone was well fed before we headed for the bikes. The gear provided was great and the bikes are all maintained to an excellent standard. I choose to ride one of the 350's even though I own a two stroke at home and I was constantly impressed with the performance of that bike, its a perfect weapon for the terrain over there.
Lyndon and his guides really show their experience once you are out on the bikes, they assess your riding ability and divided us into separate groups where necessary to make sure you are safe and riding within your own abilities at all times while still providing you with plenty of opportunities to test yourself. Our guides were amazing guys who were obviously focused on making sure we all had the best experience possible and after spending three days with them we felt like we had known them for years. I feel like this trip has taken my riding to another level and I can't wait to get out on my bike to see the benefit. I cannot recommend this company highly enough, although I was travelling with friends who had been before and had nothing but praise for Toro Trail my own experience far exceeded my expectations and I will definitely be going back to do it all again. Get yourself booked In!

What a trip! Thank you to Lyndon and his colleagues. You looked after us extremely well and having no prior off road experience Lyndon made me feel at ease and pushed me to my limit - thank you.

Torotrail is the company to use, do not look elsewhere. You will not regret it.

Looking forward to coming back soon! Thank you to Alejandro as well, top guy.

Oh yeah, the bikes are top-drawer too.

Having now enjoyed three trail riding trips to Malaga, each one with a differing operator, it's fair to say Torotrail have offered the best overall package in every department.

Prior to arriving, the administration I received as Group Leader, was perfect from Sally. Speedy, timely, efficient and witty, too! At no stage was I ever left hanging or unsure. The transfer arrangements from Malaga to Torortrail's accommodation were also faultless. Nick, our Logistic Wizard Extraordinaire who collected us from the airport, is a top bloke and the service he delivered was outstanding.

Lyndon is the consummate host. He strives for high standards (which he delivers) and is also an ace coach when out riding. For a (northern) bloke, he has an unusual eye for detail.

The accommodation Torotrail provides is great. Clean and comfortable. Everything works. Mattress good. Each bedroom has its own WC and shower… and they work!!

On site breakfast is slick, efficient and more than adequate - a super start for your day of riding, setting the tone beautifully. A very diverse choice.

The Husqvarna bikes and equipments are fantastic. Clean, fully functioning and fresh. Absolutely no complaints from my group who were all overwhelmed by the high quality standards.

The 2 days of trail riding were well organised, structured, memorable and stretched each and every rider, etching an unforgettable memory for us all.

Lyndon knows the best eateries, too. All we frequented were very good, but there was one stand out, Santiago's Kitchen, Alhaurin el Grande . Quite a treat!

Talking of treats, in day two, we were incredibly fortunate to ride with Alejandro Medina - go look him up. Bizarrely talented rider and such an ace lad, too - what a treat for all my group to see a rider like Alejandro in action.

Could you find a cheaper two day trail riding trip in Malaga? Probably?

Would my group return to Torotrail ever again? Absolutely, in fact, I can't see me ever wanting to go elsewhere.

Is there anything you would want to change about your Torotrail experience? I can't think of anything.

I highly recommend you try Torotrail for yourself. I can't see you being disappointed.

One of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had! Myself and two mates spent two days riding, having no previous off-road riding experience. Lyndon and his colleagues were absolutely brilliant at getting us up to speed and showing us the best techniques.

They are very accommodating for all abilities, especially for myself after a few hard falls on the first day knocked my confidence back. I pushed through and after the second day with some great support from Lyndon and Adrian, I felt so much more confident and will definitely be back soon!

The house is a perfect setup and has everything you could ever need, including lots of beer of course! It’s in a very peaceful location which is great for relaxing by the pool with some tunes after the day’s riding.

We had some great lunches at Spanish restaurants midway through the day, which were included in the price of the trip, and some amazing food in the evenings at other local restaurants. Great food, great company, and a good few drinks.

An unforgettable experience that I can’t recommend enough. Can’t wait to head back again very soon!

Huge thanks to Lyndon and the team! We’ll see you soon.

Absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. I went as part of a group of 6 fairly experienced enduro riders, the tour guide Adrian customised the trail riding to our experience and took us to some really challenging and awesome terrain. The villa and pool is amazing and the hospitality from Lyndon and his team is second to non. We will be booking again soon!!
