Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited this place due to some recommendations. It is a nice once-in-a-lifetime place to see, but seems to be a bit touristic and therefore I would not go back. We enjoyed some small glasses of diverse wines and they pour the wines from the big oak barrels and count the price of each (around 1,5-2e per a tiny glass) on the table, where they count your orders by chalk. They also serve some cold tapas: we had cheese platter, shrimps and some scewers (including anchovy, olives, tuna, salmon etc.). They ring the handbell always when they get a tip, that is funny but also theathrecial. However, it was nice to see this place and have some Spanish tastes. My favourite were the tiny scewers of olives and anchovy.

This small, standing-only wine bar is extremely well known to locals and tourists alike. There's a long counter where you can order from a selection of dry and sweet wines direct from the barrels behind the bar (we counted 21 barrels). They also serve some small tapas to accompany your drink, and your bill is chalked up in true old-school fashion on the bar counter in front of you. It's a great way to kick-off your evening.

We went between christmas and new years when all of Spain is out shopping for Three Kings Day, and seemingly all of Malaga was taking a quick break for a vermut at this awesome bar. It was packed with people, loud, and a fun experience. Ordered at the bar for drinks. Pushed our way through a group of people to the guy standing by a tapas cooler for a couple plates of fish products and a cheese plate, and held things over our heads making our way back to a standing table by the front door.
The vermut was unique and enjoyable. The tapas were fine (cold, seafood tapas like you'll find many places in spain). The experience was really fun. The old school nature of the bar made it worth the visit.

Now this is the real deal. If you want Vermouth, this is where you come for it. You stand by the bar (no chairs) in a room of barrels, lost in time. The Vermouth is cheap, you can try whichever type you like, and there’s always a drunk Spaniard ready to talk to you. Highly recommend for a morning drink if you’re feeling worse for wear.

It is compulsory to visit this delightful old bar if you find yourself in Malaga or indeed the surrounding area. Packed full all the time , both with people and atmosphere. The staff really add to the character of the place, the food being incidental to the highlight of the show…… being served your choice and blend combinations of sherry direct from the barrels behind a very old wooden bar by friendly and efficient staff who just chalk up your bill on the counter as you go from one sherry to the next until you leave with a smile on your face and happiness in your heart. What’s not to like!
Prices have gone up ( 🙄) since we were last here five years ago but still amazing value for money. Go for the experience!

I absolutely do not recommend the Antigua Casa de Guardia in Malaga.
Their wines are good but this is not the only one place with wines in Malaga. I visited the bar at 9.35 pm. I ordered a glass of wine. At 9.45 pm. the waiters started bustling around, cleaning up, etc. Suddenly, one of the waiter came up to me with a plastic cup and wanted me to pour the rest of the wine from my glass into a plastic cup. I was surprised at the very beginning and refused because I am not used to drink wine from plastic cups and what is more, I was already finishing my wine. From that moment on, the waiter started urging me rudely. With a raised voice, he was repeating "Fast, fast, fast!", and pointed at the plastic cup. Once again I refused and showed him the time which was 9.45 pm. The bar closes at 10 pm, so I had a time to finish my wine. Unfortunately, my explanations did not help, and the waiter was still pushing on me, and tried to simply throw me out of the bar!
What is more I contacted the owner with that issue, however he did not reply at all.
This is a scandalous situation. I have never experienced such a rude treatment of customers.

Following a recommendation from a walking tour we made sure we made it here in a busy week. We weren’t disappointed. Such local and ancient atmosphere isn’t found often. The sherries were varied, interesting and tasty. They keep a running total of your bill in chalk on a wooden bench in front of you. The barmen are humorous and helpful. A definite not to be missed.

Historic Old premises. A great place to visit to try different Malaha wines straight from the barrel. Limited tapas menu also available . Stand at the old counter and choose what you want or make up your own blend to get your right level of sweetness. They chalk up what you have had in the bar in front of you . Helpful staff. A great place to visit.

In 2018 made our first visit to Antigua and were blown away so had to see if it would be as good second time. We were not disappointed. Friendly staff who clearly enjoy serving a wide variety of sherry wines to customers from all over the world. Great to see so many locals here- always a good sign.

Old bodega serving wine from barrels. Limited tapas available. Most staff are so indifferent and grumpy but that just adds to the ambience ! They chalk up your purchases on bar in front of you. Not easy to find at present as behind lots of scaffolding. You can go to the toilet but there is no wash hand basin ! Old Malaga and brilliant to visit.

Sorry, wish I could help you, but seems you might have put your question to the attraction and past visitors section instead of to Tripadvisor staff? If not it's probably a bug of some sort...
