    We would do it again!
This day of cooking with Mayte was a standout of our stay in Malaga. A third person joined us and it was fun to meld the different menu wishes. Mayte was well organized and had the menu incorporating all preferences with all local ingredients ready. We all got to prepare a Malaga salad of oranges and cod adorned with spring onion, cuttlefish (sepia) in almond sauce and meatballs in almond sauce. We had a break for cheese &a tapa after preparing the ingredients. Lunch was on the patio and all was enjoyed! The setting is absolutely beautiful and we lucked out with a bright sunny day. If you're tired of looking AT things, and want to dig into an activity, A Cooking Day is for you!

    Cooking experience
I had such an enjoyable day at this cooking class. A lovely American couple and myself cooked in Mayte’s kitchen. We prepared a Malaga Salad, cuttlefish in almond sauce, meatballs in almond sauce and artichokes which I had never cooked. We enjoyed a relaxed break with wine and cheese on the veranda overlooking the olive trees. After finishing all the dishes we then sat down and enjoyed them. I will definitely be trying these dishes back home. You will not be disappointed.

Fantastic and welcoming experience to Mayte’s family home. She thought of everything and we cooked 3 dishes, delicious and well paced and enjoyed the beautiful home and learned more about the culture. Her English is phenomenal and she enjoyed helping us improve our Spanish. Would repeat in a heartbeat.

We had a fantastic time. Mayte Fernández looked after us so well. Her house is a beautiful old Spanish family farm house set in the hills between Malaga and Almogia. We spent the day in Mayte's kitchen learning how to cook traditional Spanish dishes such as Ajoblanco ((traditional, creamy almond cold soup), Pisto and Pork tenderloin in Maderia sauce.
Mayte can accomodate up to 4 people for a workshop and you get to chose the dishes that you want to learn how to cook aead of the day. Mayte teaches you about Spanish food and lifestyle as well as giving a tour of her home. Mayte is really knowledgeable and a great communicator and teacher.
Once you have cooked all the dishes you then spend the remainder of the day eating the most delicious lunch with wine and soft drinks as part of the package.
We (aged from 14 yrs to 56 years) all learned so much and had a thoroughly memorable day. Would highly recommend.

Mayte of course. She is warm, welcoming and full of interesting information about Spanish food, couture and the area of Malaga. Being in her home in such a “family “ experience was way above and beyond what I could have imagined.

My husband and I always do a cooking class in holidays, but after 6 years living in Spain we still hadn’t done a Spanish cooking class. A friend from Canada came to visit and found this class online. It was a fantastic day. Mayte the teacher is excellent. You aren’t just at a class, you are welcomed into her family home. Which is gorgeous with fantastic views. We learnt how to make ajoblanco, paella and mussels tigres. It was a true experience lot just a class. I would highly recommend it

I bought this experience for my parents for a birthday present. Mayte was very easy to coordinate with.

My parents loved the experience, this is my fathers review:

'Mayte was was the perfect hostess, relaxed, interesting and informative - an 'immersive' introduction into rural andalusia cuisine and life in general'

I bought A Cooking Day for my wife´s birthday and what an absolutely fantastic experience it was. Mayte was amazing....so friendly, knowledgable and skilled and really made us feel right at home. The setting out in the Malaga hills is magical. Surrounded by olive and fig trees and like stepping back in time, with the original farm house and beautiful little patios and courtyards which are so much the flavour of Andalucia. My wife loved it and even I, the most unskiiled chef on the planet was engrossed in the preparation and cooking of the food. the food was fantastic and was backed up by some lovely vino and a in-depth regaling of the joys of Andalucian cuisine, markets and history. Could not recommend this highly enough and already told friends its a must visit. Brilliant all round.

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful cooking day in a beautiful and authentic farmhouse in the Andalusian hills, surrounded by almond and olive trees. Mayte has true Spanish hospitality and know-how. After picking us and another couple up from a nearby location, we were introduced to her home and family. We had a small welcome breakfast and she outlined the plans of the day. The three dishes we prepared were surprisingly easy with her expert tuition and turned out delicious! We hand picked the oranges for the orange, potatoes and salt cod salad. We learned a traditional mussels croquettes recipe and then prepared a pork loin in a scrumptious sauce. With glasses of wine and conversation, the hours passed by until we left. We thoroughly recommend this cooking experience!

Do you know the kind of movie where people/family are together, all happy smiling and enjoying their day? And they gather at a large table for a tasty lunch or dinner. Well this is what you can expect when you go to Mayte's place. In between the hills just outside a small village you will find her place surrounded by a beautiful garden with cosy places to sit all around. Mayte is a wonderful host and speaks very well English. But above all her cooking is excellent, she knows the local cuisine and it tastes wonderful. We were with a group of 15 people and she made on the spot paella! And the group consists of people who studied hotelmanagement and had most of all experiences with food and hospitality. That evening was truly great. We enjoyed the food so good that there was no paella left over in the pan. The next day we went for a brunch at her place before we had to get back home. And again it was so relaxing and the food excellent. Local dishes and a cosy atmosphere... we didn't want to leave! So if you are in Malaga and want to learn Spanish cooking. Go here....!

Natascha, once again thank you! I repeat myself but it's just fair to say that everything was very easy with you from the very begining. You all made me feel very comfortable cooking the paella at your place, and food is very often a matter of two, the cook and the eater, so it had to be good! It's been great meeting you, Helma and all the others, hope to see you again one day!
