About
What is TOMA? Well apart from being a catchy beat pulsating from the local flamenco bars, we like to think of it as the Traditional Original Magnificent Andalucia... But one guest recently corrected us; he said what it really stands for is THE ONLY MANNER to see ANDALUCIA - well who are we to argue? So let us personally craft your next visit to Andalucia, and then you can tell us what TOMA means. Contact our expert team today, and discover "The Spain you Never Knew" on one of our unforgettable tours in Andalucia. About TOMA & COE TOMA & COE offers boutique tours and day trips in Andalucia, Spain and Morocco. They create themed culture tours with lashings of local food and plenty of soul. Their aim is to share "The Spain you never knew, and will never forget" so visitors to Spain can discover the real destination behind the tourist trail. TOMA & COE appeared on the BBC2 programme "Great Railway Journey's" with Michael Portillo, and have received critical acclaim in such publications as The Independent, The Telegraph and Red Magazine.

In October 2019, we (3 women, 1 from New York City, 2 from Maryland U.S) toured Andalucia for 10 days. Toma and Coe designed our itinerary and arranged guides, hotels, and a number of restaurant reservations. Our trip was fantastic, and we highly recommend working with Toma and Coe.

After two days in Granada to visit the Alhambra, we rented a car to drive a west-south-east circuit from Granada to Malaga, seeing hill towns and spending a day in the Parque Nacional de Doñana due to our interest in the park’s varied ecosystems.

Manni (the principal owner of Toma and Coe), and his colleagues, Fernando, and Rebecca listened very carefully to what we hoped to experience during this trip, such as the type of guide we enjoyed and where we preferred to visit. (For example, we did not want to visit the big cities of Seville or Córdoba and we preferred cultural, educational and nature tours.). Once we had all the details fixed, an itinerary was developed and sent by email. It had every detail outlined day by day. It included maps, weather and travel times and it could be downloaded to an IPAD and mobile phone

Everyone provided tremendous attention to detail and always responded very promptly to our emails and calls. Toma and Coe selected excellent guides for us – Robert at the Alhambra, Jesus in the delightful small city of Ronda, Rosa in Parque Doñana, and Beatriz in Málaga.

Toma and Coe made special arrangements at several delicious restaurants. We especially enjoyed Toma and Coe’s suggestion of a morning with Scott at his Skywings Falconery outside Algodonales, where we had amazing experiences working with the kestrels Emily and Kenny and hawk Jaz. We ended our trip with a couple of days to relax and visit museums in Malaga before heading home. We are extremely pleased that we worked with Toma and Coe for this excellent and fairly priced experience in southern Spain. Thanks so much, Toma and Coe for an unforgettable experience!

We had a wonderful custom tour of Andalusia. Toma & Coe arranged it and held it together admirably just as the C-virus was beginning to rolling in. They provided skilled drivers and friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating local guides for our group of 3 (grandparents and 14yr old granddaughter). We went from Malaga to Grenada to Seville and to Ronda. They found the right places, arranged the timing to maximize our ability to see and enjoy the attractions (Alhambra, Plaza dl Toroo in Ronda, Picasso Museum and others) but still gave us freedom to wander and enjoy time on our own. They were available by phone days and night for questions and to roll with the punches. Could not have been a better group to work with. Muchas Gracias Manny and Rebecca! Esperamos que estes bien y saludable.

Toma & Coe put together a fantastic walk for a group of 10 friends on the Camino Mozarabe, specifically the Silver Route from Cordoba to Salamanca over 7 days. My experience very much exceeded my expectations as well as those of my companions. Far from the busy world with few other hikers, we walked through wide lush vistas and a rainbow bounty of wildflowers, greeted placid cows and listened to bird song, always aware that we were walking on ancient paths. At different points we had special guides to explain the significant history of a site, a Roman ruin, a medieval city.
Our creature comforts were also well taken care of — stays in excellent hotels and planned dinners were wonderful. Beyond what I have described above, there was another aspect of the trip that made this walk more than an adventure. Manni Coe, our organizer and walking leader, and his staff worked to provide us with a real experience of the Camino through their depth of knowledge, modifying our plans as needed, and extending warmth and kindness to all as well as injecting humor and laughter along the way. I always will have deep gratitude to Manni and Pepito who took us on this outer and inner pilgrim journey.

P.S. If you want to travel before and after a Camino walk, the company can book train tickets, events and museum entries, local guides, hotels, etc. I found their advice very helpful and the service cost reasonable, including an individualized itinerary as well as personal follow up while traveling.

As we were very pleased with their Andalucia tour, which they arranged for us in 2016, we asked them to arrange a similar tour for us in Portugal. And they did an excellent job.
We were very happy with all aspects of the two-week tailored private tour in Portugal arranged by Toma & Coe.
1. Very good selection of hotels. Very central in the big cities and interesting, attractive in the small centres.
2. Excellent guide/driver. Catia was very knowledgeable about the history of Portugal as well as the current situation. She was an excellent driver and on time each morning.
We would highly recommend Toma & Coe for anyone looking for a customized tour in the countries in which they operate.

This was truly an unbelievable tour experience!

Natalie drive and was our tour guide. She picked us up in a very comfortable 9 person van (6 in the tour and Natalie) and we weee so very comfortable! Her knowledge, her driving skills, the history she shared was all a 10!

Took us to a winery where we weee given a tour, and a tasting which was as good as any winery tasting we have ever experienced and we are from CA.

From there we took another short ride to Ronda (one of the White Villages) where Antonio Jesus Naranjo was our guide (always ask for him, he has been a guide for many Global Dignitaries). We started w the famous Bullpen with all its history and glamour and proceeded to the small and colorful streets, old buildings and then the old bridges…

They selected a magical restaurant for lunch and before lunch we had time to stop for a few carafes of Sangria… so so good.

Overall we could not have dreamed of a better tour and tour guides.

Final shout out to Fernando who was very attentive and helped plan the tour and his communication h be is email to get this set up.

Great company, fabulous tour company.

Gracias Natalie, Antonio y Fernando!!

My wife and I used Toma & Coe for a three week tour of Madrid and seven cities in Andalucía. We were most pleased with the service. They took care of everything. All we had to do was show up.

The hotels they booked for us were all clean, comfortable, and quiet - each interesting in its own way. The staffs at each were most helpful. Two of the hotels, the Áurea Casa Palacio in Cadiz and the Villa Oniria in Granada, were architectural beauties.

They engaged guides for us in each city, and each was knowledgeable, entertaining, and proud of his or her city. Our guide at the Alhambra (we think his name is David) stayed with us in a cold rain and made sure we got a cab to return us to our hotel.

For our longer trips they got the train tickets, and for the shorter trips they provided drivers. The drivers were all friendly and punctual. The cars were brand new and spotless. Having drivers was most beneficial. It would have been difficult to find most of the hotels; some were on narrow streets inaccessible by car, but the drivers knew how walk to them. Parking would have been a headache.

On any trip there will inevitably be glitches, but the very few we encountered were quickly resolved with a call to Fernando.

Having toured with Toma and Coe in Andalucia several times and knowing the superb quality of their guides and organisation, I was keen to walk the Camino De Santiago with them. After waiting 3 years for the pandemic to subside I met up with 11 Californians in the gorgeous University city of Salamanca in May 2022. We then followed the final kilometres from Ourense to Santiago de Compostela, on the Camino Mozárabe (Sanabres) walking 108 k over 6 days but benefiting from luxury hotels, delicious food and drink (too much beer?) plus a minibus to carry our stuff.
Many pilgrims have described the experience of challenging their physical ability while engaging with the spiritual essence of the historical, but not necessarily deeply religious, journey. Daily meditation and yoga added to the atmosphere of friendly but relaxed involvement.
For me the walk with a purpose in great company through magnificent countryside was the high point. The fantastic weather certainly helped.
Our arrival in Santiago as the bells erupted at midday on Sunday was extraordinary and exhilarating.
Guides Manni Coe, an expert on the Camino and all things spanish, and Erin Fleming yoga deva, more than completed the deal. Juan Rí our driver packed the bus with remarkable skill and joined in walking when he could and Fernando in the office at Toma & Coe was essential to the superb organisation and assistance.
Most of all - it was fun!

My husband and I used Toma & Coe to plan our recent trip to Andalusia Spain and were more than happy, in fact delighted, with the service, the planning and the attention we received. The agency set up private drivers, private guides, tours, etc for our 12 day trip. They were wonderful to work with in that they were fine with my booking our hotels as I am very particular about where I stay. They will do as much or as little as a client wishes. We felt like we got a tremendous value for the money we spent. The drivers and guides were exceptional - the best of the best! We learned so much from them all about the history and culture of the country. We would not have had the rich experience we did had we driven ourselves. Everything worked like clockwork with guides and drivers being on time and being highly professional. Fernando at Toma & Coe made the planning process easy and would offer suggestions when needed, and he was immediately responsive when I had questions during the trip and contacted him. The agency provided a detailed and thorough itinerary including restaurant and site suggestions in the cities/towns we visited.
I highly recommend Toma & Coe for anyone wanting to visit Spain! We would use them again in a heartbeat!

Manni was our tour guide on the Caminito del Rey and he was absolutely fantastic! Not only is he extremely knowledgeable about the area, the culture, the nature and the history but he is also full of so many fun and entertaining stories from his own experiences of living in the region. We learned about everything from the life cycle of the golden eagles flying above our heads to the different styles of flamenco dancing and how it is relevant and popular with all the generations today. Manni educated us all about the history of Caminito del Rey including a few stories about the tragic deaths that happened on the 90’s. He also recommended and joined us for lunch at a wonderful restaurant afterwards with a beautiful view. He was the highlight of our 12 day trip and we could not recommend him more as a fun, knowledgeable, entertaining and versatile tour guide.

When I walked the Camino from Salamanca to Santiago de Compostela with Toma and Coe in May of 2022, even my highest expectations were exceeded. As the leaders, Manni and Erin are incredibly dedicated to providing the personal attention that can make all the difference on a trip like this. I was challenged (in a good way!) both physically and spiritually while supported not only by Manni and Erin, but by my fellow Peregrinos as well, who were warm, intelligent and offered camaraderie and good fun at the end of every day. The accommodations were all first rate, offering both comfort and a sense of history. The route was spectacular and allowed plenty of time to contemplate the natural beauty, in silence if you wanted or chatting with friends if you preferred. The meals – whether casual or upscale dining – were fabulous, and attention was always paid to any food allergies or preferences you needed to have accommodated. While on the trail we were able to stay in touch with our group of 14 using What’s App, so you never had to worry about taking a wrong turn or getting support if you needed it. The logistics were impeccable. The BONUS was that this adventure really did change my life in ways that are too personal to post. If nothing else, I lived in the “present moment” for eight days straight — what a gift!
