Gorgeous display of old Islamic architecture. Full of gardens and pools!
The palace is a beautiful display of 13th century Islamic architecture and design. There are numerous arches, gardens, and pools along with amazing views. The Nasirid palaces are not to be missed and are a must on your tour of the Alhambra. I highly recommend visiting!

    NOT TO BE MISSED!
Wow is the word that comes to mind first! Nasrid palace is where the beauty of Alhambra shines IMO! The intricate carving , the imagery and the sheer grandeur of the palace just takes your breath away! It can also get a bit "too much" after a while - so pace yourself. The tours of Alahmbra need to have specific ticket for Nasrid palace and it is a timed entry. So when you book, make sure you ensure Nasrid Palace is included and specifically mentioned in the ticket. It is a lot of walking on incline so beware!

    Beyond magnificent...
The Nasrid Palaces complex encompassed three independent areas...The Mexuar, Comares Palace and Palace of the Lions. Rather than attempt to detail our experience in writing, we have instead chosen to provide a few photos with appropriate captions. Pictures cannot do the palaces justice, as there are simply not enough superlatives to describe them. We found the Nasrid Palaces of the Alhambra stunning, beautiful and beyond magnificent. This preserved jewel of Islamic history and heritage in Spain should be on everyone's bucket list.

    Equisite detail and beauty!!
The Nasrid Palaces (Mexuar, Comares Palace and Palace of the Lions) are the highlight of the Alhambra. They are stunningly beautiful and not to be missed. A grand display of Moorish architecture, Islamic calligraphy, stucco, tiles, and carved wooden features. The Moorish palace style incorporated courtyards with fountains and/or gardens surrounded by living and function rooms. The lavish design of the Nasrid Palaces is unmatched in Moorish architecture. Unfortunately, the popularity of the Alhambra means you could very well miss them if you don't book well in advance. They sell "only" 8,600 tickets for each day, and the tickets sell out every day! Book in advance!

    The highlight of the Alhambra
There are many interesting sights at the Alhambra, but the Nasrid Palaces are definitely the highlight. Bear in mind that the time on your Alhambra ticket is what time you’re entering the Nasrid Palaces, so allow plenty of time. The Palaces are spectacular. We spent an hour walking around. It can get crowded, even though we chose the first slot of the day, and unfortunately some visitors are very selfish when trying to take photographs. But not even they can ruin the experience of seeing the majesty of these palaces up close

    Nasdrid Palaces
We went to see the Alhambra and Nasdrid Palaces in a tour with a group of 10 which we booked in advance with GetYourGuide, it was definitely a good idea to do so. We selected the 9am slot so the weather was just perfect for the 3 hour tour, the history was unbelievable and the views were absolutely breathtaking, l'd definitely recommend doing this tour which also includes the General Life. Such a beautiful place with rich history to visit when in Granada!

The Alhambra itself is free to wander around but the Nasrid Palaces and Alcazaba require tickets. They are available online 3 months before the day you want to visit. Don’t hesitate in purchasing one. Enter the site at the Justice Gate (puerta de la justicia). Bus #C32 will drop you off at this gate. Once you enter the open plaza and go past the restrooms, turn left and enter the lineup no more than 15 minutes before your designated time. Sign says ‘palacios de nazaries’. Some people said they needed to show their passports. No one asked us. Better to take yours and be sure.

The Nasrid is absolutely stunning. You can spend as much time in here as you like. Easy to follow the way through. We didn’t purchase the audioguide, just marvelled at the scrollwork, mosaics and tiles. Afterwards we went to the Alcazaba. Lots of steep stairs here but you get beautiful views of Granada.

If you leave through the Justice Gate, turn right and go down the stairs. It is an easy downhill walk to Plaza Nuevo. You can glance back up and see the flags at the Alcazaba.

After the Nasrid dynasty built the Nasrid palaces –originally 6 were designed, the austere interiors of the Alcazaba fortress were discarded for graceful Moorish designs including many “horseshoe” arches, richly decorated.
Because of the now fragile decorations, entry is limited to 50 (or so) persons at a time and you must attend at the times shown on your ticket. If you have a back pack, you will be asked to carry it on your chest to avoid striking the art works as you turn around. The entry queue is located at the north-west corner of Castel de Carlos V.

There are no words to describe the breathtaking architecture of the Nasrid Palaces. At every turn there is exquisite craftsmanship and/or a stunning view - you can only marvel at how this place was built. It was great to see visitors so respectful to their surroundings. You need a few hours for the full visit, and early morning is better for a summer visit. Pre-booked tickets recommended but not necessarily expensive ones, as you get to see it all with or without a guide and there is plenty of information available.

Make sure to arrive early at the palace entrance (not the whole complex), we arrived 2 minutes late after getting lost and arriving 1 hour in advance at the park entrance and they didn’t let us in, went to customer service and they told us there was nothing we could do and they apologised and told us that if we arrived 4 minutes early we would’ve got in.
He advised us that we should have skipped the queue (we arrived a bit later because we were politely waiting in the queue). Very disappointed, not going to wait for queues anymore and apparently being loud and skipping queues is the thing to do in the future.

Generalife" is unmissable and was appointed by UNESCO, in 1984, as World Heritage Site. How can you dare to miss it? Enjoy!

In 2017 we already visited Alhambra but weren't able to get a ticket for the Nasrid Palaces. Now, two years later on, we tried again, and it was nearly the second failure. When long months ago the planned holiday in Granada I wanted to buy the ticket to this desired place, the only availability was Nasrid Palaces Private Guided Tour with Tickets
Operator: Granada Tours a Pie. 110 euro per person. You can imagine my feelings. Since I'm writing this review, obviously I paid the 220 euros. We had a guide only for the two of us, and this ticket included the Alcazaba and the Generalife as well. Our guide was fantastic, very knowledgeable, and told us interesting stories as well. It was a delightful 3 hours, but still, I would prefer something less fancy but for 20% of this money. The Nasrid Palaces were as extraordinary as I expected. Every minute more and more miracles were greeting us. The hall of the two sisters with its stunning ceiling, the Tower of the ladies with its reflecting pool, the Hall of the Kings (Sala de los Reyes) with its painted ceiling, there are so many uniquely beautiful places, and then I didn't even mention the Court of the Lions. Also when a water channel ran with small splashing water rays, in the middle of the yard and two colored flower beds on both sides. The Nasrid Palaces are offering so many pleasures to the eye, that at the end you feel, that you can't consume anymore.

It is a most see if you are visiting Granada. The downside is there is no signage instructing you where to go when you arrive in the Alhambra and some of the staff have little understanding of English and even with my attempts to Spanish, my husband and I ended up walking around without a audio guide and didn't really know much about what we were seeing. So I would recommend visitors to go for a guided tour or read about it before visiting.

I am, modestly, an experienced traveller, but I'm thinking that the "Palacios Nazaríes" (Nasrid Palaces) may be the most beautiful building I've ever seen. There is room after fountain after courtyard after garden of the most stunning and detailed Moorish architecture.

Book your tickets before on-line and respect your entrance time as only a limited number of people are allowed inside at once, something which has become even more important in COVID times. Also bring I.D., they photograph it, I assume in case of track & trace necessity.

For architectural lovers, the details of this Islamic artistry is so beautiful, it is simply exquisite. The details are to be savored nicely, up close is wonderful. The rooms are empty, which is not great, but the artistry makes up for that. That way, you are not distracted by anything else and can fully enjoy the best that is there. Definitely, the heart of Alhambra!

So glad we booked tickets well in advance of our trip .... and so glad we double checked at the entrance about when/where our tickets were valid to enter the Nasrid Palace part of the Alhambra as the initial explanation was a little misleading and would have meant we missed our slot. However, the palace was a truly magical place, full of such beautiful detail that was breathtaking. Unmissable!
