Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It’s an expansive and open space. On one side is a beautiful Baroque Church, from which the Plaza takes its name.

A fine monumental tribute to Martínez Montañés is a further attraction. Numerous eateries offer good dining.

We visited to have a quick look and a drink while exploring the area during the daytime. It was an average experience for us.

A cup of coffee during the day or a beer or tapas by night, this is my favourite plaza in Seville( or any other city).
Particularly at night, to sip a drink among the locals with a view of such magnificent buildings......... one of life's great pleasure.
Would bring me back to Seville.

The main reason to be at the Plaza del Salvador is to see the Church of San Salvador. However, there are plenty of restaurants and cafes where you can sit outside and take in the view. A bit of history, a mosque demolished in 1671, once stood on the grounds of where the Church of San Salvador resides.

One of the countless squares located on Sevilla, bustling with activity at all times of the day - there are some cafes and churrerias in the area so you can grab a bite and enjoy the views.

Though on one side of the square is the Parroquia del Divine Salvador – the Church of El Salvador, the opposite side contains a number of popular bars with crowds standing drinking. Thee are obviously fine views of the church as you are drinking.

We deliberately came here on our way to the Cathedral so we could buy the Cathedral/Bell-Tower/Church combo ticket (€10). If you buy the combo ticket inside the Salvador church, you can walk straight into the Cathedral and avoid the long Cathedral lines. The Salvador church is well worth seeing and it’s only 3 min walk to the Cathedral.

The plaza itself is an open, sunny space with cafes and outdoor seating. It’s a popular plaza and a very nice spot to sit for a coffee, which is what we did while we waited for the church to open in the morning.

There are several noteworthy features in the plaza:
i) Salvador Church – the second largest church after the Cathedral. Inside, it’s a Baroque extravaganza of gold and glittering colour. Well worth going inside.
ii) Statue of the sculptor, Juan Martinez Montanes. His sculptures of St Christopher and Christ work can be seen in the Salvador church and people can sit around the steps at the base of the statue.
iii) Hospital de Nuestra Señora de la Paz - a hospital has stood on this same spot since the 1300s but this one was built in 16th century. It has a symmetrical façade, with 2 bell towers, crowned with spires. The figures in the niches above the door, are St Augustine, Mary and St John. You can’t normally see inside as it is currently run as a home for the elderly by the San Juan de Dios order.

This rectangular square has numerous cafés where you can sit outside and relax while exploring Seville. The architecture in the square is interesting and there is the Monumento a Juan Martinez Montanes to see.

Plaza Del Salvador is a lovely public square where you can stop for a while and relax with a cup of coffee or whatever drink takes your fancy. There several cafes and restaurants around so there is wide choice. The plaza has a history going back a very long way, several centuries back! It used to be a place to meet people and just hang out, not much has changed since!

A smaller and less busier square that is a few minutes walk from the Cathedral. This was the meeting point for our walking tour.

The main focus is the Salvador church. In the Moorish period this was a souk and the church was a mosque.

On the opposite side there is the usual array of bars, restaurants and shops.
