Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The flamboyant bell tower is situated in the old town not far from the cathedral not as shown on some of the street plans a good 20 min walk away. The mudejar bell tower stands proud and worth a look.

As a lover of MUDEJAR architecture I was on an evening stroll and caught a glimpse of this church's bell tower and was smitten at first sight! As I understand it the church itself was closed for many years due to renovation efforts and is now open for visits but I didn't get the chance to confirm that. So even though I wasn't able to visit its' interior I still feel compelled to write this review because I found its' bell tower to be an incredibly beautiful example of local mudejar architecture. And to be honest when I first caught sight of the tower in the distance and partially obscured by other buildings I thought it was the minaret of a mosque. I walked the narrow streets of the old town towards the tower almost feeling like the 3 kings following the star of Bethlehem until I got close enough to realize it wasn't a mosque but a church.
Of course I took several pictures but architecture of this stature cannot be done justice in pictures, something like this has to be appreciated in person and with one's own eyes recorded in one's mind! My love for MUDEJAR grows exponentially every time I see examples like this bell tower!

The Church of La Magdalena was constructed in the 14th century where there was an old Romanesque church from the 12th century. There is one nave and the apse has a polygonal shape with seven sides. The façade of the church is Mudejar and the exterior of the apse is profusely decorated. The Mudejar tower has a square plan and is richly decorated with glazed ceramic tile in green and white colors. It resembles the famous Mudejar church towers of Teruel. The tower consists of two towers, one inside the other with a staircase between them and the tower resembles the Tower of San Martin in Teruel. The main altarpiece was created by Jose Ramirez de Arellano in the 18th century, who was the sculptor of the Santa Capilla in the Basilica of Our Lady of Pilar. There is also an altarpiece by the artist Damian Forment .

On advice of the tourist agency on plaza de Pilar I walked to this church.
It is closed for restauration and it will be quite a while before it's open again.
The inside is completely gutted.
So don't bother going .

We had many wonderful interactions with locals during our stay in Zaragoza, random people coming up to us telling us what not to miss in their city, Iglesia de Santa Magdalena was one such recommendation, to their delight we told them that we had already admired it.

The Church of Santa Magdalena is located in the small square of Plaza la Magdalena, located a short walk from the back of San Salvador Cathedral on Calle Mayor, access also from Calle el Corso.

A church has been mentioned to have stood in this small space dating back to 1126 but was replaced with this beautiful 14th century version. The style of the architecture is described as Aragonese Mudejar. I particularly loved the highly decorated tower with green and white ceramic tiles and the square indentations of the top of the tower wall. There was no possibility to enter, only viewing from outside.
