Beautiful statue remembering the Asturian emigrants who ventured to other lands (especially the Americas and other parts of Europe) to improve on their future and opportunities. Heavily visited by most tourists.

Worth the trip to see this monument. You get to really see the expression of the woman. A bit eery, but in a good way.

Walking east along the coast you come to this monument dedicated to mothers whose sons left Spain for the Americas. The outstretched hand and look of loss on her face is so emotional it is worth the effort of finding her.

Went on a coastal walk from Gijon and came across this monument as well as many other sculptures along the way. I found it quite haunting in a way. Worth the walk.

Came upon this monument by chance on a very pleasant stroll along the coastline. When you have over-indulged in one of the many excellent local restaurants, why not seek this statue out and work off some of that fabada?
