First off, the fish parts of this aquarium are outstanding - especially the large centrepiece with walk-through tunnel etc. But I was very impressed with the exhibition, first aquarium i have been to that had an exhibition on boats & shipping, history of the association...More

The aquarium in San Sebastian is wonderful, but is very much a an aquarium in 2 parts. The upstairs is dedicated to naval history, shipping, whaling, and the whale trade in the Basque country - with a number of fascinating models of ships. A lot...More

We easily spent a couple of hours here, it was a quiet day (mid week in October) so we could sit and watch the amazing array of marine life. The exhibition is well worth spending time in too.

This aquarium/museum is right in the heart of town, on the waterfront, in an old fort. Definitely worth a visit. The naval history goes from early Basque sailor days to the present (a Basque sailor finished Magellan's trip for him after he died enroute). There...More

I'm a big fan of aquariums and this one was okay. The highlight was probably more the seafaring museum, which had loads of model boats and dioramas about life by the sea.

This is so much than an aquarium. There are two floors of the history of sea faring and fishing in the region including fascinating examples of whaling. There is a string sustainability theme running through exhibition recognising the need to preserve and protect but the...More

Was really surprised by this place as it doesn't look great from the outside. Definitely worth a visit, especially when the weather is not so good. It is part naval museum, part aquarium. Small but really well looked after, useful for a bit of background...More

It was raining we'd done two churches so walked round to the Aquarium. What a treat! Some amazing model ships describing the relationship of San Sebastian with the sea, the history of the port, I did wonder if we'd stumbled into the Maritime Museum by...More
