Overcrowded party island
Aug 2020 • Family
In the summer the small Santa Clara Island is filled with partying youths. There is no shade, no peaceful place to sit and the one restaurant is overcrowded. This is no place for families or adult couples. Stay on the shore and enjoy beautiful San Sebastian. Skip the island.

Pretty little island.

It looks very pretty and it certainly helps to shelter the main beach, but it isn't easily accessible, out of the main season, though I believe you can swim out to it, at certain times of the year and they run boats there, in the Summer months.

Breathtaking jewel with charming tiny "private" beach.

Absolutely wonderful little island - you can swim there (!) or take the boat. Lovely boat ride there - you can ride around the island first or just go there. Beach is tiny but not crowded and great fun to swim as it is so sheltered and gentle. Clear water - but disappears at high tide to go at low tide!! Lovely walk to top of island in shady glades. Wonderful views of the city and the sea. Magical place due to intimacy, lack of crowds, lovely scale. Not to be missed. Cute tiny lizards too. Has a bar with things to eat too!

Nothing Special In Off-Season
Apr 2018 • Couples
We visited San Sebastián in April, and though this island provided a focal point in La Concha Bay, midway between two mountains, it failed to offer much else. The water was too cold to swim to the uninhabited island, which myriad people do in summer. Their destination lies about a quarter of a mile away from La Concha Beach with floating platforms providing rest stops along the way. And the ferry wasn’t running. That usually goes between June and September, taking passengers to swim, picnic or eat at a small seasonal restaurant.

When taking a hillside walk above the bay, we got a better view of the 14-acre island. Paths went through its green vegetation and the mass resembled a giant turtle from our viewpoint. It has steep sides and a 157-foot elevation.

I doubt we would have made an effort to reach the island, had we arrived when it is more accessible. That’s because there is so much to see and do in San Sebastián itself.

Lovely trip!
Aug 2018 • Couples
We loved this! Was only about 6 euros for a boatrip from La Concha port around the bay to the island. Lovely small beach there and lovely restaurant you can eat at. Just to note though that you will only get a table if you order food. Have their paella, it's amazing!!! one between 2 is good :)

Lovely boat ride from the harbour area to santa clara island. Had a lovely beach on the island to swim at. Restaurant on the island has the best paella ever! Just to note that you won't get a table unless you order food there. Worth the a visit.

Focal point

This is the focal point of the bay dissecting the the two mountains. It's just a superb sight to behold.

Kayak there!

A perfect sunny days trip. Paddle to the little island but remember some money for the cafe and a waterproof phone/camera. A great little spot with a water taxi that runs each 30 mins

Try and swim all the way
Sep 2017 • Friends
We decided to swim across the bay to get to the island, and that is not impossible. Actually, if you got the time, and are in shape for a tiring swim, then it is a thing to do during the summer.
The island itself isn't that spectacular, but it is a nice break from the city. Also possible to get there by boat.

Take the stand up pedal !
Sep 2017 • Friends
went to the island pedaling from Ondarreta beach, there is a easy sport corner to rent a stand up pedal or other pedaling boats, one hour cost 10 euro and it takes you around 15 to 20 minutes pedaling to reach the island, there is a small place on the island to put your pedal and enjoy jumping on the water or a fast meal in the restaurant ! heard there is regular trip to the island from Kirol Portua but did not try them by myself..
