Ornate stone carvings around the old wooden entry door, especially the stone sculpture of St. Sebastian with an arrow in his leg, were the important exterior features of this church for me. These carvings were different from the rows of sculpted religious figures often seen around Gothic doors. Our walking group didn't go into the church due to the entry fee. We got an excellent photo of the stone sculptures over and around the entry door while we walked on C. Major where it was also possible to see the church's twin square bell towers that framed the entry. Probably this church is one of the major attractions of the old town.

It is not known how long the Basilica dedicated to the Virgin Mary in Choir has existed, it was certainly rebuilt on a pre-existing Romanesque, in the eighteenth century. The Virgin of the Choir is the Patron Saint of San Sebástian. The external appearance is pompous, baroque, the figure of St. Sebastian martyred is on the facade. Our guide Teresa told us that the Churriguerresque work was financed more by the Royal Company "Guipuzcoana" of Caracas. Another oddity is the sculpture "Harmony of sound" modern Basque work that wants to represent white as a symbolism of purity of the Basque people and the holes in the matter as harmonies of the whole. Therefore we find old, new, styles, peoples and....a whole world....

This basilica nestled at the bottom of the Casco Viejo "Old Town" deserves attention. Its baroque construction was completed in 1774 . The interior is beautifully decorated and one can also visit a museum of various objects , sculptures and paintings.
Admission is subject to charge , 3€ / Person

Loved the church, especially the interior. The exterior is a bit crowded. It was quiet, an organ music was playing inside. Except the fact the church is beautiful ,you can go inside to a small museum part with old up to new religious objects.

Great impressive church in need of renovation, hence probably the admission. Here you will also find old and new art in the church. Great picture from the church into the small streets of the city

It is difficult not to see this basilica at the end of a street in the old town because the very rich baroque facade attracts attention. There is a sculpture of San Sebastian, martyr. Inside a beautiful altarpiece and in the crypt interesting religious elements.

This huge cathedral dominates the old town of San Sebastian and has many beautiful features - bell towers, clocks, arches and carvings make this a very attractive church.

We are staying at an airbnb not 20 meters from this historic church. as others have described the inside alter is the masterpiece but my wife and I were taken away by all the details on the façade. I will add some photos. This historic site is well worth the time to stop and view as part of the old town experience.

Perfectly located in the old town. Can be viewed from the start of nagusia street. Surely not to be missed when visiting San Sebastián. Small fee to visit the inside: €3 for just the interior & extra €2 for the museum inside. Nice restaurant just in front where customers would sit on the steps of the basilica during busy hours.

A stunning church (as many are in Spain). Definitely worth the time to take a stroll through the church.
