Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Long thin beach with sun beds and plenty of room for all. Usual Ibiza beach bars but plenty of cheaper options for refreshment sold on the beach or the Small supermarket at the west end. Lovely clear water.

Reserved natural and of an incredible surface area.
Possibility of taking a pleasant stroll on the isthmus on foot or by bike.
The color of the water in the pools is simply incredible: crystal clear, blue, pink 👍
The packaging of the salt shakers on sale across the island is inspired by this turquoise blue.

Expensive to enter and very very not. There is no shade really in this area. If you are going remember your umbrella if you are going on the beach!

I was advised to visit Formentera because I was told they are the Spanish Bahama's and because it is breathtakingly beautiful. After visiting Formentera myself, I would also recommend a visit, but we experienced a few downsides though...
First of all, avoid the tourist office if you don't speak Spanish. Spanish people get an excellent explanation about all the wonderful attractions. I understand a bit of Spanish but I don't speak it very well. I heard the employee explaining to a few Spanish-speaking girls and it was clear, elaborate and welcoming. But then it was my turn and I made the big mistake of addressing the lady in English. If you are an English speaking person, she will tell you that Formentera is not worth visiting, that you just have to walk around a bit and that there's not any attraction accessible on a 1 day visit. I am not kidding. I asked the lady: we have a bike. There must be anything nice within a bike's reach, no? But the lady said there wasn't and that was that... She didn't mention the national park of Salines that was within 15 minutes reach for example. She must have been the most unenthusiastic, rude tourist office employee I've ever met. It was almost comical. I felt like i was in a Little Britain's Carol Beer sketch.
So we set off on our own and we were lucky to find the National park of Salines by accident or mere luck. The park offers some really nice biking/walking routes. There are beautiful beaches, with white sand and clear blue seas. But prepare for the crowds. Not a quiet spot in sight.
Also, prepare for total rip-off prices in all the restaurants. There are several restaurants scattered all over the Salines park. They generally offer crappy tourist food at very fancy prices. For example: € 15 for a microwave heated pannini (that you have to eat standing upright at the bar). € 35 for a bad-looking spaghetti bolognese. € 25 for a hamburger that looked worse than Mc Donald's. The French fries looked like they were 3 days old. There are NO reasonably priced restaurants anywhere in the park. We had planned to go to a restaurant and enjoy a nice meal for lunch. But when I saw the prices and the bad quality food that they had the audacity to serve people, we decided to skip lunch completely. And ALL the restaurants in the park were like that. The restaurants offer snacks too but the minimum price for a simple cheese sandwich was € 10. And it didn't even look tasty. Just for your information...
I am not a cheapskate. I love eating out and I often spend a lot of money on food. But for such prices, I expect quality. And that happened to be a bit of a problem here.
Also: BRING YOUR OWN WATER. There's no water available, except in the overpriced restaurants. And guess what? The water is also overpriced. :-)
My conclusion: don't be taken aback by my points of criticism. Do visit the park! Enjoy the blue water and the sun.
Is it "breathtakingly" beautiful? No, it isn't. But it is "pretty" beautiful. Personally, I prefer the rugged coastline of its neighbouring island Ibiza.
So when you go to Formentera, just be smart and take a pick-nick. And don't trust the tourist office for advice, but go check tripadvisor beforehand instead. Enjoy!

It is very nice to drive around the reserve and you can see beautiful big white fields of salt. It is also possible to buy local products, such as salts with different flavours, chips, chocolate etc.

A place to be and visit, even more than one time in a vacation time. Strongly suggested as a trip also for those staying in Ibiza.

Narrow but long beach with beautiful water and nice sand. To the left, a beautiful walk towards a lighthouse with tons of exotic wildlife. To the right, a beautiful natural park highlighting the salt mines and beautiful water (about an hour walk around the park, very beautiful)

Ses Salines is a nature reserve in northern Formentera and includes some salt lagoons you'll drive past to reach Ses Illetas and the norther part of the island. They are quite smelly, but can also be a source of inspiration for your pictures at sunset time!

This place is just beautiful. There are many different beaches from small to very big. The water is crystal clear and deep blue to turquoise. You find at least 3 great restaurants - I also posted a review on TripAdvisor.
We always go in October to Formentera, than you don't have to pay for entrance and parking. During high season they charge you when you come by car. However it is worth the money.

Popular beach, but quiet. If you want to have a day at the beach without all the noise, music and party promoters, but still be close to Ibiza - this is the place to go.
