Es uno de los pocos restos que han perdurado de las murallas defensivas de la ciudad. En esta zona se encuentra el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo. Hay unas vistas de la ciudad y del puerto muy agradables de admirar con tranquilidad. Además, la zona está engalanada con algunas obras escultóricas muy interesantes.

Em nossa viagem com o Norwegian Epic visitamos Palma de Maiorca. Pegamos um taxi no porto e após passar pelo Castell de Bellver fomos levados a Valldemossa. Na volta passamos por vários baluarte de defesa da cidade que estão sendo redescobertos e reinseridos socialmente agora como um mirante da cidade e passeio público com rampas, escadas e jardins aonde era o antigo fosso de proteção.
O Baluarte ou Bastio de San Pere é um Bastião anteriormente conhecido como de Santa Catalina e Bastião da Cruz parte da antiga muralha renascentista de Palma. Foi erguido entre 1575 e 1578, já que as muralhas medievais de Palma eram ineficientes contra as armas de pólvora. Elas tiveram que ser reforçadas com bastiões para combater a artilharia inimiga, permitir o movimento de sua própria artilharia e por ser elevada permitir observar o campo inimigo.
O Bastio fazia parte de um recinto murado, composto por baluartes unidos por trechos de parede. O Bastião de Sant Pere destaca-se pela sua grande dimensão e posição estratégica, ao ponto de ali ser instalada uma das mais prestigiadas escolas de artilharia da Europa.
Em 1952, após mais de trezentos anos, o bastião deixou de ter uso militar. Uma parte foi implodida e depois caiu em abandono em 1997, quando foram cedidos pela Câmara Municipal de Palma para a construção do Es Baluard Museu d'Art Modern i Contemporani de Palma, que foi inaugurado em 2004.

....dann begegnen dir linker Hand auch die Bastion von Sant Pere, oder auf deutsch gesagt : Die wieder erneuerte Stadtmauer von Palma.
Man hatte sie in früheren Jahren einmal abgerissen, dann aber gemerkt,daß man solch eine Sehenswürdigkeit niemals abreissen darf (Denkmalschutz) und prompt wurde sie wieder aufgebaut.
Heute ist sie Teil des Museums Baluarte, kaum jemandem, dem dieses auffällt.
Wer allerdings nicht nur an Stränden interessiert ist, der merkt es wenn er das Museum aufsucht.
Man hatte sie in früheren Jahren einmal abgerissen, dann aber gemerkt,daß man solch eine Sehenswürdigkeit niemals abreissen darf (Denkmalschutz) und prompt wurde sie wieder aufgebaut.

Die Bastio de Sant Pere ist das südwestliche Ende der alten Stadtmauer von Palma. Das mächtige Bauwerk fällt auf, fährt man die Hafenpromenade entlang. Ein kleiner Spaziergang um bzw. die Mauer entlang lohnt sich, da man dabei einen sehr schönen Eindruck zum mittelalterlichen Bollwerk gewinnen kann.

現代は、“バルアード近現代美術館”にレオナルド藤田の画が展示されている以前の中世は、聖ペテロの要塞でした。聖ペテロの要塞は、16世紀後半に築かれたものです。島自体がイベリア半島から離れた洋上の島のため。必然的に当時は、島全体が要塞になっていました。
