- June ASurrey, United Kingdom2,755 contributionsA different world and stunningly beautiful.I would highly recommend spending at least a few nights here as it's impossible to see the island in one day. I am no stranger to islands having been to many throughout Europe but this is far and away the best I have been to. Stepping off the ferry at Caletta de Sebo, the islands only year round settlement is like stepping into another world. The roads are made from compacted sand but the town is bigger than you think with several bars and restaurants and at least four supermarkets to choose from along with its own church and museum. There are four main walks around the island some of which can be combined for the fit and energetic, thankfully of which I am. It was still a lot to see though in a long weekend. The best beaches in my opinion are on the west side of the island where I could literally sit for hours watching and listening to the waves. The landscape is barren and rocky here with little shade even in the winter months so plenty of sun cream along with water and good shoes are strongly recommended. There are two peaks on the island both of which can be climbed via steep tracks (they're even steeper on the way down) and the views are tremendous in every direction. The east coast towards the smaller summer settlement of Pedro Barba has blowholes and caves for you to explore and marvel at with more isolated beaches - at least in the winter months. The island is easy to get to by ferry from Orzola with two operators to choose from, between them offering boats every half hour throughout the day. Bus no. 9 gets to the port from Arrecife in around an hour connecting with the 11.30 boat. There are only a few busses a day sadly so make sure you check the timetable or you'll be hitching a ride back home! We didn't want an organised trip but Tourist Information told us Lineas Romero will pick up from our resort Los Pocillos and take us to the ferry for 35E. Graciosa at your Leisure ticket. - paddie2 contributionsCycle around the islandNot sure if it's for families, not really much to do. Mainly a cycle round the island. Paths are very rough and there's nothing but the the little town you arrive in. My wife got an ebike and I got a mountain bike. We cycled around 20k around the island, I was exhausted later in the night and I cycle a good bit, but I think the desert like quality is amazing. I really enjoyed it, golden areas, Rocky areas and there very little commercialisation. People don't really speak English, there was a sign in the bicycle how saying they will not collect you if you get tired. Respect them for thatVisited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 June 2024

Can thoroughly recommend this trip which was excellent value as well. Coach trip to the ferry was very scenic and an added bonusVisited June 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 28 June 2024
- siancrouzVienne, France28 contributionsWorth the visit but get ebike to visit allA lovely island to visit. However the routes for cycling are very poor as are the bicycles. The 4x4 taxis to and fro ruin roads and the cycling - not nice breathing vehicle fumes. We were shocked at the existence of the 4x4 taxis in a deserted setting where surely the most inaccessible parts should be only available by foot, bike or electric buggy. A great disappointment for the lack of respect for the planet and this island of nature. Nonetheless- recommend visiting - seek out an ebike or good quality mountain bike - don’t get pulled into the renters at the port - there are a number of others in the back streets. With an ebike it should be possible to get round the island. Then by foot to Playa del Salado et Francesca.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 13 August 2024

If you have time in Lanzarote it is worth going to visit it.
TRANSPORT
We took the tickets on Líneas Romero the day before and for doing so they give you a 25% discount. We paid €21 each way if it had not been €28, so if you have time and are in the area and nearby, I recommend that you buy them before.
ARRIVAL
The journey takes about 25 minutes, if the boat is full they will give you one at the same time to leave so there is no problem with places.
Once on land you will find many places where you can rent a bicycle. There are three options to do it by walking in a jeep in which they take you on a tour or by bicycle. We chose this last option, normal bicycles have a price of €15, electric ones €35, and there are slightly more expensive ones that have double suspension for €45. We chose the 35 and enough ones.
Already en route we made the circular with a duration of approximately 5 hours, in which we stopped to swim and eat...
It is important to bring a supply of food and water, the island hardly has any shadows.
On our way back we went to a nearby beach to swim and relax.
To say that the place is so virgin and the asphalt is not exploited either so you have to constantly look at the road which is a shame and you cannot admire the landscape.
In addition, you share the marked path with the Jeeps, so when they pass at the same time as you, they throw all the dust on you.
It is worth it, yes, but if you are not a person who handles a bike well, I recommend the jeep tour.

The day trip to Graciosa had been a highlight of our two-weeks stay on Lanzarote. It was the only one of the inhabited islands of the Canaries I had not visited before. After arriving by ferry from Orzola at Graciosa's main settlement Caleta del Sebo my wife and me took off for a walk around the northern part of the island with several areas not allowing the access of cars or bicycles, especially near Playa de la Lambra.
From the hike we especially liked the coastal path in the beginning towards the only other settlement on Graciosa: Pedro Barba, a former fishing village, now a rather upscale holiday place with lovely whitewashed houses, with beautiful gardens and many palm trees. From here we continued to Playa de la Lambra, also called Playa del Ambar. On a sign it says that it is a dangerous beach, as is so often the case in the Canary islands with beaches facing north. In the sandy area more inland we were surprised to find thousands of empty white snail shells.
Interesting it is also to study the few halophytic plants growing here on mostly sandy soil like Moquin's Traganum, Sea kale (Crambe maritima) or Sea spurge (Euphorbia paralias). Bypassing the red Montaña Bermeja we arrived at Playa de las Conchas, said to be the Canary Islands most beautiful beach, to which I must agree. Golden sand for about 400m with the islet Montaña Clara out in the sea. Nobody was there, when we passed by. Here too there is a warning, thus not a place recommended for a swim.
The direct way back from Playa de las Conchas to Caleta del Sebo is a rather dull, straight track. At least one can avoid the bigger sandy road, with also car traffic, by using a smaller alternative track to the east of it - all straight though as well. At the end, before departure, we walked through the harbour village with its sand covered streets, with a few cafés and restaurants and enjoyed its very laid back atmosphere.

The island is absolutely stunning, and not one to miss. But only if you come well prepared.
We visited in June, with each ferry packed, during a heatwave with temperatures over 35%. We only found 3 restaurants open, all of which were packed, and not a single shop open in the port, couldn’t get any food or water. One of party was 88 years old so it was particularly difficult for her. We did eventually find a small supermarket so could buy water, but went back to the mainland in order to get a meal.
With such a busy place the amenities on offer were decidedly poor.

There are several alternatives to see the island, there are bicycles for 10e or on foot, I recommend going on a safari, it is comfortable and fun, we chose Daniel as a guide, a very professional Italian boy who explained each of the points of the small island to us! ! We were delighted and we will repeat!! To eat I recommend Casa Chano, fresh fish and a family atmosphere, the island has a charm that is worth knowing, beach, sun and a lot of tranquility...

Day that may seem a little expensive between the boat and the bike rental. But no regrets.
The island is magical and has varied landscapes. You can feel on the moon or in the desert sometimes.
Opt for the bike...electric...you will be sure to end up in the saddle and not on foot. Some climbs can be a bit physical, so watch out for the younger ones. Especially if it's hot. There's no shadow.
Think water and picnic

Visually stunning chilled island and a must see whilst holidaying in Lanzarote. A welcome day away from the resorts/Arrecife's relative liveliness though the main village Caleta de Sabo fills with tourists from ferry/catamaran tours daily. Yet walk/cycle 2 mins outta here and you're amongst virtually pristine rocky paths leading to either the beautiful, quiet beaches(Playa des Conchas is jawdropping!) dotted around the island or eventual steep paths leading to its several conic summits. Go independently via the Orzola ferry terminal so you can spend the necessary time to immerse and totally chill out, as with the tours there's insufficient time to marvel at all it has to offer (and do) especially geographically.

Boat crushing takes about 30 mins, get there early as top deck get full quickly. Beaches are stunning but no facilities so be prepared. Limited choice of restaurants that get full quickly, but on the whole good especially the bakery. To get around the island you need a bike, however there is a beach within walking distance about 10 mins. I believe there are land rovers for hire, we only saw an old battered one.

I would suggest to spend 1 or 2 days depending on the time you have in Lanzarote. The ferry leaves every half an hour from the port of Orzola and brings you directly to the island in 25 minutes. We rented bikes to visit the islands since we only had a day and I totally recommend that. You visit different spots on the island where you park your bike and walk a little bit to the beaches. You can only bathe in the beach in the other island settlement since the others are dangerous beaches. The route we did was around 15km in 3-4 hours including the stops. The nature is really amazing!

Getting there is simple. Ferries from two companies leave from Orzola, one every half an hour. In another thirty minutes (with generally rough seas, I recommend staying inside the ferry for those who suffer from seasickness) you arrive at Caletta de Seba, one of the two villages inhabited by the few residents.
There are no paved roads, you cannot rent or ferry cars.
There are three possibilities for visiting the island: going on foot (but even for the fittest in that case you can only see the southern part), renting a bicycle (even in that case it is not easy to pedal in the many sandy stretches ), or go with one of the 15 authorized residents who operate the authorized safari service.
We chose this option by going with Daniel, an Italian who lives on the island and who does this job.
We made several stops, some short and two long at Playa de las Conchas and Playa La Francesa.
At Playa de las Conchas we also ventured to climb the volcano overlooking the beach, very tiring but with spectacular views.
Very demanding day trip if you also want to walk to move between one beach and another but truly unique.

Hi, can I ask you a couple of questions about Islas Graciosa please?
How much is the ferry cost per adult, each way or return?
Where can you hire/arange the island safari experience from?
Would you recommend anywhere in particular to visit on the island?
Many thanks in advance,
Emma.

Hi, i don't remember the ferry tariffs, but is not expensive.
We rent a bike and i don't book a safari, but i think you can book from a office near the pier in Isla Graciosa or ask to your hotel. Nice trip around all the island roads, stop in Playa De Las Conchas.

Hola,

Saludos. L.
