The Canarian Museum is designed to present prehispanic archeology of the strange guanche people exterminated by the Spaniards. Impressive collections of skulls, skeletons and mummies impressed me. Today, however, the Spaniards show a late respect for this people and carefully study the remaining traces. One...More

The most expensive museum to visit and the most dated in presentation, despite an audio guide. Not one attempt to carbon date the bone, leather and wooden artefacts, nor the ceramics. The main lure of the place is the collection of skulls and skeletons from...More

I am an avid museum visitor but for the 10 euros each there was little to capture my interest. However, if you are interested in the archaeology of Gran Canaria then this would be a place to visit.

I had heard bits about the native history of Gran Canaria on a tour which made me want to learn more, it was most definitely fascinating, small but perfectly formed. We did need an audio guide as the displays were in Spanish, but the sheer...More

It’s a nice little museum with a small shop. An extra 1€ gives you use of an audio you take around ( deposit required eg ID card ) and gives a general overview of the room content but could have been better if it gave...More

This museum is more about the archaeologycal discoveries made on the Canary Islands than the historical evolution of the area ! The descriptions are in Spanish and the displays are repetitive ! A huge quantity of skulls ! No elevator to get on the second...More

I loved the building - huge old place in Veguerta with a particularly lovely old library which has been left as it was to house the gift shop. The displays were very interesting - but they were all pre-history and there is nothing newer than...More

Sign at the desk says you can download free audioguides from QR-codes. Only they don't have the techology for it yet, the cashier explained when I asked... so I'd suggest to invest that extra Euro for the audio guide if you don't read Spanish. The...More
