Casa de Colón is an attractive building with ornate doorways, beautiful latticed balconies, large courtyards and carved wooden ceilings. It was the residence of the Islands governors for many years and it is claimed that Christopher Columbus stayed there in 1492 while one of his ships was repaired, hence the name Casa de Colón (Columbus House). The house largely rebuilt... More

Missed this place during many earlier visits and was now very happy to have finally visited it. Museum and its exhibits give a good picture of the exploration trips done by Columbus and the life of sailors of that period. Part of the museum cover period life on the islands with documents, maps and old artwork. The building itself is... More

It's a small museum mostly dedicated to the discovery voyages of Columbus. In the top of the building there is a small painting collection and a plaquette of the island. The building itself is also worth a visit. A small but interesting exposition.

In fact Columbus was not the first to find the America's, it was one of his ship's captains, but this is a museum to the first 5 ships which journeyed there. Worth a visit.

The museum has three parts. On the entrance floor you will find learn about Christopher Columbus and his exploration of the new world as well as about the Canary Islands importance for the travels. This is by far the most interesting part of the museum. In the cellar there's a small exhibition of pre colombian, mostly ecuadorian, art and on... More

It was well thought out and plenty to see. We marvelled at how such small ships could sail the Atlantic.

I generally like the iberian take on museums - they have it all organized in aesthetically pleasing way, so that I enjoy even the topics which I am not interested in. But this one is about columbian exploration, so it was a no-brainer. Live macaws inside are a pleasant bonus.
