we stayed on south side of Vegueta, so most days we walked to Las Palmas through Vegueta, choosing different route all the time, got good overview of its streets and houses. Beautiful old town, good fruit-market - be aware that some bananas are very expensive :) ask before buying

This area is one of the most beautiful inside the city. Old buildings well conservated, a bug fruit and veggies market and the big cathedral. It is also one of the best night places. You cannot miss it if you are in Las Palmas

Vegueta, the old town quarter of Las Palmas, is beautiful and historic. The area's most well known sights are its cathedral and Casa de Colon (Columbus's house), which I will write separate TA reviews for. The area is well preserved and extremely picturesque there's beautiful, traditional Spanish architecture, museums, cobblestone streets, narrow alleyways and pretty squares. Most of the streets... When I go to an island (read for sand and sea) I also like to visit a bit of old town. Because that is what Europe primarily is all about right :) Culture, cobbled streets and an old town charm. When in Gran Canaria, make sure to visit the old town area. Some lovely cafes and bars and a typical... More

Las Palmas has a great deal to offer visitors who are not simply looking for the sun, chain restaurants and beaches; not that there is anything wrong with that, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that Las Palmas has a fine Old Town, and the Vegueta area is a delight. Fine buildings, quaint streets, interesting people and a really... More

This is the old part of Las Palmas which contains the cathedral and many ineresting museums, houses and restaurants. The streets are mainly pederianisted and offer an insight into how things used to be. Do take the elevator up to the top of the cathedral as it is cheap and well worth it for the views over the city and... More

Some old buildings and some historical buildings. Casa Colon is one we enjoyed. Old Catholic Churches around. Many tourist shops around. Good cafes on the street.

The streets of Vegueta are charming and the cathedral worth a visit. The shopping street is athe the opposite side of the bus terminal.

My fiancé & I enjoyed strolling around the old town. The buildings are very beautiful, many painted in bright colours & with gorgeous balconies. There are lots of cafes and bars, where you can enjoy sitting out on the terrace and people-watching. A must-see when visiting Las Palmas.
