This beach is currently rated as tourist attraction #1 at Gran Canaria. Honestly I was disappointed. To me it's an average beach you can find in any small Spanish coastal city. Architecture of the houses along the beach is just terrible. Must have been fancy in the 60s, but not much investment into maintenance since then... I visited the Maspalomas... More

We liked walking on long and nice promenade along Las Canteras beach. It is wonderful beach an perfectly kept.Living in Christina hotel I could watch how beach boys are getting ready for day's job. They were placing sunbeds in equal rows lined by ropes tied to wooden sticks. Not so many swimmers in winter months ,but I am sure summer is really hot... Always clean, every morning the sand is levelled, plenty of sunbeds or space to just sit on the sand. Visible lifeguard presence, very safe.

According with news this one of the biggest urban beach in the world and it's really good to walk along the beach in a promenade with a lot of nice restaurants and a lot of people walking and running there whole day and night

\we were staying near Parque Santa Catalina, and had a stroll along here most afternoons or evenings. We covered the length of it on different days. The southern end has spectacular waves and surfers body and board. The northern end has all the better (and in fairness "international") restaurants and bars - architecture is awful really but look out to... More

Unfortunately it wasn't hot enough to go on the beach in February very often during our 10 day stay but when the sun came out it was great to hire a sunbed and umbrella and enjoy the sounds of the waves as you dozed off and on enjoying the warmth of the sun.

I cannot rate this beach highly enough; it is mainly yellow sand of a good texture, not too dusty, not too rough, there is areas of nearly black sand too, which is linked with larva, but you can choose your spot. There are many excellent steps and ramps down to the beach at different points, modern showers and foot washers... More
