- Rose K26 contributionsA beautiful beach and chilled vibe!Beautiful sandy beach with a promenade full of places to eat and drink! Lively fun and well-maintained. It has an international vibe but also you feel like you are immersed with the locals. Great range of restaurants and all tastes/price ranges are catered for. The giant hand-made sand sculptures on the beach were very impressive (free entry).Visited December 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 21 December 2023
- Judyp6 contributionsOur favourite beachWe love this place and stay in a hotel directly on the beach, midway between the two ends. Now we are in our 70s it gives us great pleasure to stroll the wide promenade, watching sports on the beach such as volleyball and surfing. There are plenty of seats to take a rest and of course, a great choice of restaurants and cafes. The sand is kept really clean and some hotels have sunbeds for use.. We came in December ( 2nd visit) and of course visited the beautiful sand sculptures and the aquarium, as well as catching a bus from the nearby Santa Catalina square. It’s a great place with a good cosmopolitan mix of ages.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 January 2024
- Richard JPlymouth, United Kingdom6 contributionsThe best beach in the city. North end is the best end. This is a long beach. The southern end of the beach isn’t the best area and it gradually runs out to an area that seems more run down , which a less attractive beach. The north end of the beach is really the hub and I would recommend that any accommodation would be best at this end of the beach. There are many bars and restaurants on the front , and the market has lots of bars and tapas , just back from the main beach in the north. Having walked around the whole area and visited the old town, I would say that the beach area is the place to be, as Las Palmas centre isn’t really somewhere to stay , but worth a day trip on the local bus or by taxi. We stayed for 6 nights , but think that we would stay 3 nights here and maybe split our trip between here and Mas Palomas in the south , as the weather is better further south.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 March 2024
- Marie A LouiseSwindon, United Kingdom93 contributionsJust the bestWe have been visiting here every year since 2012 and we have fallen in love and it really is our 2nd home. I would say this is the best city beach. Great to walk along the promenade day or night. Lovely restaurants, great base to explore the city and walking distance to the bus station.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 13 May 2024
- Jane2003rugbyKingston-upon-Hull, United Kingdom389 contributionsWOW WHAT A BEACH !!!!Wow what a beach, you can do everything, from surfing, volleyball, beach yoga, surf school, sunbathing & rock pooling all on the same beach ( not all at the same time !! ). There are free toilets, showers, lockers, changing rooms. This can be accessed from both the beach & the promenade. Disable friendly, ramps down onto the beach. The city center end, the sand is dry, but towards the auditorium end it is tidal so wet sand. Very clean. Lots of bars, cafes & restaurants & shops. Plenty of seats to watch the world go by.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 July 2024
- Kam-HaiderLondon, United Kingdom636 contributionsLong stretch of beach not crowded very cleanBeach is huge and stretches a long way. A lot of shower stations to clean yourself. A lot of stores and restaurants. A fair amount of black sand at one end hot to walk on. Lots of activities available. Location is excellent for a morning run. As with most European beaches a number of topless women present. Weather a bit more variable hazy sunshine / windy but still warm (23-26C).Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 1 September 2024

The beach has a natural-rock wave breaker a few hundred yards out to sea...so the immediate beach area is very shallow and calm but you can see/sense the ocean waves breaking more wildly just further out to sea.
The sand is fine and there are plenty of restaurant seats along the promenade from where to sit and enjoy the view...all reasonably price and selling traditional Spanish seaside meals.

Some local guide books call this one of the worlds best beaches. The more time I spent here the more I appreciated how good this beachfront is. The first main advantage this beach has compared to many around the world is that there is no road with noisy traffic running next to the promenade. Instead it is lined with restaurants to suit all budgets and some shops. The promenade is beautifully presented. At the south end you will find surfers. At the north end you can see dramatic volcanic rock formations. The beach does face west so you get the best of the sunshine in the afternoon and some lovely sunsets. On a Sunday you will find craft stalls along the promenade and a very popular stall making a drink from sugar cane. I have enjoyed listening to some of the musical entertainment along the promenade. It is hard to believe that you are actually in a city of 400,000 residents. You can sit at one of the bars and enjoy watching the people go by or the sea views. Plenty to see and do without it feeling crowded.

I loved everything I’ve lived here for a year and it is only crowded a few weeks of the year, it’s all about coming at the right time. There are many things to do and so much beautiful sea life (I recommend coming in June if you are a tourist) the best time of year to come is may in my opinion. I have come millions of times (trip advisor forces you to say a specific month so I’m just choosing this month)

A wide sandy beach with plenty of loungers and parasols on offer at various prices - ascertain the price before sitting down as you may be ripped off as we were! Showers on beach but I didn’t see any public toilets. The boardwalk is lined with many good restaurants and bars. Busy with locals at weekends.

This many-kilometer-long golden sand beach is located right in the city center.
A promenade with numerous restaurants and bars is going all the way next to the beach. It is a very pleasant place for walking.
The southern end is very popular among surfers. You can also find Auditorio Alfredo Kraus for concerts from that end.
When we are traveling to Las Palmas, we always choose a hotel by this beach and a room with beach views. Reina Isabel, NH Imperial Playa, and Cristina Hotel are the best options.

Great beach so close to the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. There is a great promenade adjacent where you can meet people of all ages and nationalities. I find that it is particularly nice at night with the lights, the sound of the waves pounding on the beach and the various cafes, bars and restaurants along the promenade. There really is a great buzz!

This urban beach has something to please everyone - safe, calm water and a sandy beach. Lots of fun for both adults and children, including surfing, swimming, snorkling, beach tennis, children's playground and much more. There are many delightful cafés and restaurants running all along the walkway besides the beach. The mountainous views are beautiful and the sunsets incredible, this is the perfect place to match your moods, whether relaxed or energetic.

This beach was a 10 min walk from our hotel. We went in early March and the north of the island (las palmas) was quite cold. Even though it was around 22 degrees near the beach it felt like 11 degrees. The clouds were in the way of the sun but the occasional times they did move away we could feel the heat of the sun. Anyhow we still went and sat on the beach but didn’t brave it to get into the water although lots of people were in the water.
There are lots of sandy areas if you walk down and it wasn’t too busy. The water looked very clear.
We traveled down south to masopalamas for two of the days and it was much warmer with the temperature reaching 30 degrees even on the beach and we swam in the ocean then.

Playa de las Canteras has something for everyone. At the south end there is surfing and bodyboarding and as you walk along, its character changes and there are more relaxed beach users - local families, tourists, etc. At low tide near the Little Beach, a lagoon forms as the large waves are held back by the reef, and it becomes a great place for snorkelling and safe swimming.
At the weekend, the promenade is full of people strolling and it becomes a great place to have a drink or a bite to eat and do a bit of 'people-watching'.
Canteras is a golden sand beach, unlike many others in the north of the island which have black sand, and it stretches for 3 kilometres. If we return to Las Palmas, we would certainly stay here, to have the benefits of the city and enjoy the beach at the same time.

We walked the entire beach - about two miles on the boardwalk which is a wide paved plaza - accessible by all. The beach is nice with lots of sunbathers, some nude, and many surfers catching the waves. People swimming although we thought the water was cold and crisp. There are many restaurants along the way and a grocery store about midway if you need a bottle of water. A beautiful walk. At the end is a large enclosed shopping center and a bus stop right in front

Canyon.
