We visit Playa de Las Canteras during winter (January). It was beautiful place with a lot of space to sit and rest. Sand is gold and beautiful. The water is hot during whole year (thanks shoal stretched along the coast). One thing It is really windy place - so don't hesitate to take jacket and change clothes after swimming :)

If this was the beach in your hometown there would be very little need to go anywhere else on holiday for beach lovers. The beach has everything you need including a local shrine if you should feel the need to send out a prayer for your good fortunes. The water at the edge is smooth so perfect for toddlers and... I am a canary man working in Germany. Every year I visit my old home in Gran Canaria, and every year I like to go to las Canteras for bathing and snorkeling. The water is transparent, full of life (it is a protected zone). I swim to the stone bar, and I enjoy the waves there. After swimming I walk... More

We were there for 2 weeks at Christmas and New Year. Weather for 3 or 4 days was too cold for the beach but rest of the time was great for sunbathing, walking along the waters edge, or playing with a ball in several areas that are divided off. Plenty of cafes with outside seating all along the beach open... More

Couple of miles of gorgeous sand, pleasant walks along the front but not tacky (as some canarian resorts)

Best of beach and city. Lovely sandy beach and promonade. Many cafes, restaurants and benches to sit on and people watch.

Lovely clean beach. Great for swimming and snorkelling. Crystal clear waters. Great place to stroll and people watch. Loads of nice little restaurants along the promenade.

The long stetch of prominade is just great - lots of wonderful restaurants and shops. Right overlooking the very sheltered beach with very good beachside cafes. The time that I stayed there was a lot going on so it was even better.

Very nice but in Jan not as much Sun as hoped for going South would have been better the beach has a beautiful long prom to walk along and it is perfect for disabled people. Beautiful designer shops in the main town and many tourist shops along the prom also restaurants.

One of the best city beaches in the world - second only to San Sebastian's La Concha, I would say. Best for swimming at low tide, but well protected by the reef (La Barra) at any time. And plenty of great seafood restaurants nearby!
