Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We joined hiking guide James on an 8km walk in La Corona and onto Famara Cliffs. Pick up & drop off in Puerto Del Carmen. James' knowledge of the plants, landscape and volcanoes was top class. He gave information in English and in French, group of 10.
I'd definitely recommend good footwear and bring your own food / water - banana and small snack given by guide. Use of guides walking poles much appreciated as surface is rough.
Weather wasn't great but when it cleared the views from the cliff were stunning.
We stopped to see where a volcano had erupted on our way home and it was so interesting.

We did La corona volcano and Famara cliffs trek. Our guide was excellent- speaking both English and French on this walk. Laurent was well informed and interesting. The trek is rightly described as moderate and the offer of walking poles was appreciated. Laurent talked about water and energy on Lanzarote, flora and fauna, geological processes and history. The route covered areas which we would not normally walk as independent visitors, and the views were spectacular.

Excellent way to see & learn about what makes Lanzarote so interesting.
Very well organised. Quick response to booking request via their website. Pickup from Puerto Calero (despite not being an option when booking - but there is comments section).
Excellent multilingual, knowledgable guide. Information on leaflet & website is accurate & tells you what you need to know.
Will recommend & do another tour on our next trip to Lanzarote. Thank you.

As my wife is a geologist, we were keen to book this tour, taking in the volcanoes, tubes and blowholes in the area adjacent to the national park. I'm not a paragon of fitness nor youth, but I had no problems negotiating this three hour walk. It can be windy, and some paths are over lava, so warm clothing and trainers are necessary.
Our guide was Martin, who spoke to our group in French and English. What shone out was his knowledge of not only volcanic geology but also local vegetation and how it had evolved. He shepherded the group expertly around the seven kilometre trail, constantly maintaining our interest and revealing some breathtaking insights into the volcanic history of Lanzarote.
There is a snack provided, but take a bottle of water as well. Pick-up from and return to hotel.

Stayed at the Timanfaya Palace Hotel at Playa Blanca for ten nights in November and spotted this company at the local ticket agency located adjacent to the Flamingo Beach minimart. Had nice chat with Baz ( the ticket seller) who gave us heaps of info on the volcano walk, paid our 39 Euros for the ticket and eagerly awaited the exploration of the lava field.
We were collected exactly on time from our hotel and were pleased to find that we were the only English couple on board. We were joined by fellow travellers from Germany, Holland and Denmark who all spoke excellent English ( much better than my German). After about 45 minutes in the minibus we arrived at the appointed start of the 6 km trek. First of all our guide, the lovely and well educated vulcanologist called Aina described our planned route and showed us on the map exactly where we would be walking and which particular volcano we would circumnavigate. She ensured that we all had plenty of water ( all offered free of charge) together with the offer of free waterproof jackets . Well organised or what?
We had a brilliant time crossing the lava field where we were shown the different types of lava and Aina went to great pains to ensure we all understood how each type was originally formed. We then ascended the volcano ( it's ok, as it's dormant now) and gazed with awe into the crater. Wow, what a sight. Following a break for lunch ( also provided f.o.c) we skirted the bottom of the volcano and took in the sights of lava tubes and blowholes. All the while Aina kept up a running commentary in English and German as well as ensuring the pace was not too hectic. The trip lasted about 4 hours and can be acclompished in a pair of trainers or strong shoes. I wouldn't recommend walking sandals as the fine grit will get in and you'll be forever stopping to clear it out. All in all an absolutely wonderful, entertaining and educational trip and I would have no hesitation in going again. Aina really knows her stuff. If you can spare a long morning this is certainly worth every cent.

The biggest and best highlight of my last trip to Lanzarote was a guided hiking tour in Volcano land.

I'd booked this excursion through my local Thomas Cook office here in the UK before flying off to the island because as a keen walker I wanted to make sure that I could reserve a place on the guided tour. I'm sure you can book through your travel agent at home or via the rep in your resort hotel.

If you enjoy walking, hiking and trekking then this is a MUST DO on your visit to Lanzarote. Be sure to take a good pair of lace-up footwear as the terrain is quite rough and uneven as you trek over lava fields, through a desert of volcanic ash and of course - up a volcano. The Volcano National Park area is adjacent to but separate from the famous Timanfaya fire mountain live volcano, so this is your chance to walk out in the lunar landscape.

The company: Canary Trekking Lanzarote is well organised and the guides are fully experienced in the world of geology and volcanology, and their passion for the subject and the countryside is infectious - they really do bring everything to life; oh and they are multilingual too so don't worry - nothing gets lost in translation.as each group is limited in size to about eight people. They do a number of different walks in different areas, the one that I did was what is listed as Route 1 and it was absolutely fantastic, wow what an experience. And Helen, my French guide, was simply superb.

You can check out their website for more details - type in Canary Trekking Lanzarote or go to www.canarytrekking.com

And just in case you're wondering if I am on commission for this review, the answer is NO! But I am a huge fan of everything they do and the stunning places they will lead you. For them it isn't 'just a job' it is a real passion which they are all so happy to share.
And I am happy to write this review and promote them and the fantastic walks.

Fantastic trek across the volcanic landscape of Lanzarote on the edge of the Timanfaya National Park. Everything was made easy with pick up from my hotel and return at the end of the day. A must for those who like walking or hiking.

I did 2 tours with them this last vacation as a single guest:

- La Corona Volcano Trekking Tour
- Los Volcanes Natural Park Hiking Tour from the South

Both great tours, with friendly guides with a lot of knowledge!
Everything was very well organised, pickups on time, enjoyable walking pace, ...
The tours start early, so you'll get back around 2pm at the hotel, so you still can
enjoy your day with other activities.

Thanks again and greetings from Belgium.
